Excellent value and warm welcome

Dropped in for Sunday lunch. Very warm welcome. The Sunday roast had a good selection of meats and was well cooked, very tasty and good value for money. The service was very good. Will visit again.

Great local food and interesting books

We loved the generously portioned local food. Don't miss the bookcase, which includes some fascinating local history. Friendly staff too.

Heart of the Mendips
May 2015 • Friends
Great traditional Somerset pub serving freshly cooked homemade traditional food. Great campsite at rear with electric hookups for caravans and clean shower block.
The staff and owners went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. Good ideas of local places to visit on their website too as location is very central for many local attractions. (www.waggonandhorsesinn.co.uk)

A quirky pub but very comfortable and a warm welcome .Food served in a sensible time assuring you it is cooked fresh and the surrounding to this location are simple remote and yet very Mendip Hills central .

Not the most welcoming, ales not fab. Very busy

Sadly our visit did not rate in my books. All 3 ales i tried were weak and lacked taste. the staff were rushed although we arrived at opening time. All tables were booked and although we were only two there was no offer to eat at the bar or any idea of how long it may be. Bit too much a restaurant and less a pub i think. In fairness i did see that they were looking for several kitchen staff so that may have contributed but i wouldnt rush back

Delicious home cooked food
Mar 2015
Visited with my elderly parents who have happily visited here many times. A roaring fire welcomed us on a misty damp day, we sat near the fire throughout our meal which was lovely. I chose mushroom and spinach lasagne with new potatoes and salad, instead of fries and garlic bread. It was home cooked and tasted amazing. My parents enjoyed their meals too. We finished off with a lovely pecan pie and custard ( plenty of pecans) . Clean pub with plenty of interesting things to browse at on the wall, lovely waitress and met Dawn the bubbly cook. Will definitely eat here again but next time bring my husband and two children as well. 10/10
