- Cathy K2 contributionsSulphite free. Never tasted better!Outstanding products from a very unassuming vineyard. Proprietor (Hugh) was super friendly and down to earth, kindly giving us a taste of the whole range. I’m 3 bottles in with friends so far are can only say wonderful things: The mead is so pure. The best we’ve ever tasted. Tayberry wine is medium bodied, tannin free and delicious as a result. The Cassis liqueur is to die for. I won’t spoil things by trying to describe something that should only be experienced in real life. Well priced organic plonk with no pesticides used or sulphites added which is literally unheard of in this area (Somerset) Can highly recommend!Traveled as a coupleWritten October 22, 2022
- Thebirds07Rainham, United Kingdom44 contributionsOrganic Wine, cider and LiqueurA proper, dirty dusty organic shed in the middle of now where selling gorgeously uncious fruity wines and liqueurs. Defo worth a visit and the lovely owner lets you try all of them too!Traveled as a coupleWritten January 26, 2014
- Amanda T1 contributionIncredible place!Extraordinary wines - no pesticides used at all - lovely cider which is traditionally straw-pressed. This small family-run vineyard is absolutely beautiful and the owner is clearly very passionate about the process of making his produce. I have had a wonderful time each time I have visited. I particularly recommend their dry white wine and liqueurs, especially the damson. Lovely apple juice for the kiddies, too!Traveled soloWritten April 11, 2018

Set on a gentle slope in deepest Somerset is this hidden gem. They have a great selection of fruit and grape wines along with liqueurs which you can try before you buy. If you don't make it they have a mail order option too.

Following a visit to Glastonbury and the Avalon wetlands, being a wine drinker with a disposition to English wines, when I spotted a sign for Avalon Vineyard I was immediately tempted. I drove to the premises and decided to take home 3 bottles of wine. The winery looked a little run down, but they often do so I was not unduly worried. The proprietor opened up for me and gave me a taste from an opened bottle of white wine - the only grape wine they had - it tasted fine. I said I would like 3 bottles. He gave me the only one on display and asked if I could wait 10 minutes whilst he labelled up 2 more for me. When he returned I could not tell the difference between the 3 bottles so I presumed everything was okay. I opened the first bottle yesterday - it had a poorly affixed label so I know it was one of the two bottles that were not on display. It smelled and tasted distinctly odd but I could not discern what was wrong. I gave it another try today and could tell there was an apple smell - It still tasted like very bad wine, but actually rather good cider. I don't know what is in my other two bottles. Be aware.

Called into the vineyard on a rainy Sunday afternoon. The owner was really friendly and happy to let us try all their fruit wines and liqueurs etc. They had a great selection and all were delicious. Not really the weather for exploring the vineyard, but we’re glad we stopped by and did not leave empty handed.
