Minsmere is a great place to discover nature. The RSPB shop, cafe and visitor centre provide a perfect introduction before you explore the beautiful countryside walks. Enjoy stunning woodland, wetland and coastal scenery and close views of a wide range of wildlife, including many rare species. Families can begin their journey of discovery in the Wild Zone, or build a den in the Wildwood Adventure. The nearby Discovery Centre is perfect for school visits, birthday parties and exhibitions. Self-guided activities include a free explorer backpack to borrow, and there's a regular programme of events in school holidays. Seasonal wildlife highlights include: spring birdsong, nightingales and booming bitterns and nesting avocets; summer butterflies, flowers and nesting terns; autumn migrants, red deer rut and colour; winter ducks, evening roosts of birds and Christmas shopping. Volunteer guides are often available to help you identify Minsmere's varied wildlife.

I made my first visit to minsmere today as someone who has a great interest in birds and wildlife but is far from a serious birder.on arrival I was greeted by a very pleasant and immensely helpful member of staff who did everything he could to familiarize me with the site and point out where I may be able to... I spent 4 days on a wildlife / birdwatching trip around RSPB Minsmere. What a place, so much diversity; Reedbeds, Field, Heath, Woodland and the adjoining beach. Whilst there I managed three rarities of birds and lucky enough to get photos. Don't worry about food, the Restaurant is very good serving a variety of meals, some ingredients from local sources.... Thanks for your feedback. It sounds like you had a great time - and plenty of opportunities to sample the cafe's delicious food during your four days. We certainly love wildlife, and love Minsmere More

I visit minsmere regularly mostly taking visitors from overseas. It is the RSPBs honeypot reserve and it is a place where the results of intensive management can be seen. And it is great for birds and other wildlife. There are many other reserves in the area (most of which are preferable if you like to get away from the human... More

Thanks for your feedback. While we agree that there are some great local places to watch wildlife away from crowds of humans, there are also many opportunities to escape the crowds here at Minsmere. The best way to avoid crowds is to make an early start - Minsmere is open from dawn to dusk every day except 25 & 26... More

Hubby and i had a lovely walk around minsmere. Very tranquil and relaxing. Sat in the hives for a while watching all the wildlife. Absolutly beautiful morning. Went into the resturant. For coffee and jacket potatoes. What wonderful staff. Friendly. Welcoming helpful. Would highly recommend a visit

There are some very narrow roads to negotiate before arriving here. You really would want to have to reverse if you met a big lorry half way down a road. So we wouldn't come back for that reason. Huge area to explore, including a large beach. Plenty of hides to view birds out of the elements and take some snaps... More

Thanks for your feedback. I'm sorry that you missed our starlings. That's the trouble with nature. It's wild, and unpredictable. No sooner did we start promoting our starling murmuration than they upped sticks and moved elsewhere - we're just not sure where! Minsmere's remoteness is one of it's main attractions - where else in England can you get away from... More

With a reputation for attracting more birds, reptiles and interesting insects than any other RSPB location in England I had great expectations. I was not disappointed. We began our visit with a coffee in the café and that was good! Stepping outside in November to Darters settling on the sunlit shrubbery was a treat. Visits to each of the many... More

Above and beyond, a big thanks to staff for reuniting me with my husband and dog! After a pleasant work across the Heath with dog and Children, we decided to pop into the Centre, whilst hubby returned to vehicle with dog. Unfortunately I took the keys with me. I cannot thank the lovely member or staff for giving me a... More

I visited with my son who has autism. The place is tranquil and easily accessible. Staff in the visitors centre were very helpful and explained the site in full detail. We walked to the beach, which was deserted and quite lovely. The cafe is compact, but had a great selection of reasonably priced food.
