After 2.5 month continuous of lockdown weekend in Turkey due to covid19, I found Karagöl was exactly the best place to escape, back to the nature, and out trip was just perfectly and timely done before the tourists start to come. We found only few families around so it was very quiet and peaceful lake. Very green and the smell of nature was wonderful.

This is the region of Karagol lakes. There are at least 3 Karagols in Artvin, one in Savsat, the other in Yusufeli and the last one in Borcka. The one in Borcka is breathtaking. It's especially for camp-lovers but you may see many picnickers and a crowd during day time. There is a spot designated for campers around the lake.

Nature is awesome , lake is arounded by trees , mountains are in behind. Many fishes in lake. weather in spring and summer is cool and lovely.I strongly recommend for nature lovers. Actually it's not a virgin nature but worth to visit and camp and spend a night. There are waterfalls and rivers on the way that you can visit. Road from last junction is not very good but no problem in dry and warm weather. It is a protected area and fishing and hunting is prohibited.

I went with a tour company. Since the buses were not available, we went by minibus for a fee. It is not very funny, or it may have seemed like that to me because I am from the Black Sea region. They took us in the morning, it was wet and muddy, so it was difficult to walk around the lake, especially if you went with a tour company, you don't have that much time anyway. They say "yeah, this is it" and then take a photo and take it back. Instead of spending time here, you can spend more time in different places.

The only thing I don't like is the road to the lake, which is a little narrow for two cars. Apart from that, the nature is beautiful. As far as I can see, there are barbecue places, toilets and gazebos. Entrance by car costs 40 TL.

Do not mix up Savsat Karagol and Borcka Karagol, 2 different lakes. I personally liked Savsat Karagol much better

Feeling very regretful that i have discovered this amazing place after 28 years lived in Turkey!! Its 1500 metres up on the hill, a beautiful lake with 25 metres deepness. You have options to eat grilled meal or you can have your own stuff to eat there, there'r cute tables around. Restroom is also available. You must rent a canoe and tour on the lake, it is "now" 1 TL per minute. The road is amazingly beautiful. You will have a lot of peace over there. Enjoy!

It is an amazing park ever! Such a lovely lake surrounded by high mountains. Mostly everywhere is green but I strongly recommend you to going in autumn. There is a short period that you could see colours of autumn. Also there is trail around the lake. This is one of the must seen places.

Very nice park with a lake over 1540 meter above see level. The lake was clear and you can do some little activities on it. The surrounding of the lake was nice with many local visitors.

I saw there in May. Weather was great. It is realy recommended during stay in Artvin province. You can find motel or pansion on the road in the way.
You will reach the lake by car, walking circle around the lake .. barbecue overthere and enjoy beautiful scenery as well photography. It would be some snack in the shop overthere and rent a boat..
