Fabulous views from the tower. The top is quite exposed and vulnerable to the wind. The climb up is quite long and some nervous people would find it too daunting. A tour guide (bookable at the Information Center) is essential but provided a really informative tour, lasting over an hour.
The church is interesting too. Pick up a guide to its features

The belltower from this historic basilica gives guest the best 360 degrees view you can get from the city of Oldenzaal. But not only the guided tour up the tower is a must do, also a visit of the church itself is a must.
This is the oldest building in the city of Oldenzaal and has a lot of history

Built around 1150 with Bentheimer sandstone, this church burned out in 1492. The clock mechanism can be seen. Tours go to the top, where views over the town and environment can be enjoyed.

Looking at those massive supporting columns inside this church makes you feel small. Nice glass-stained windows. Several items are numbered and at the entrance, one can obtain a card, available in several languages, which explains all these numbers.
