Came looking for an ancestor killed during the war.
Visiting here is a sobering experience. The graves are immaculately well kept. Even though this is a relatively small cemetery the waste of life is all too apparent, particularly reading the young ages on some of the headstones. Soldiers as young as 19 in some cases
We were also fortunate enough to have a local tour guide who showed us around the battlefield sites in the area. (Thanks Richard)

The cemetery is quite small but it's not less impressive. Well maintained as all other british cemeteries. There 's no special parking place but you can park it on the side of the road for a short time.

Beautifully kept grounds. Even at this scale the symmetry of pristine rows of bright white headstones is striking. With the ages and regiments of the soldiers who died included, this place really gives a sense of the impact the second world war had.
We were lucky enough to have a personalised guided tour, but even without that the place is well worth a visit.

My fathers brother Private Albert Turner, Gordon Highlanders, killed 30th October 1944 aged 19, my father was led to believe it was friendly fire, my father never wanted to visit it was his only sibling, however Albert lies beside another 3 young men same age from the same regiment, at least he is with friends.
Left my condolence in a lovely book.

Never forget all the brave souls who gave so much.
Sobering to see such young men whom gave up a life for the freedom of many.

This is one of many world war 2 cemetaries in the Netherlands. As usual, it is well maintained. I would say it is of average size. Most soldiers buried here are British, but there are also Canadians and at least one Dutch soldier. I noticed one inscription on a stone saying that the soldier's father was killed at the Somme in world war 1. At the yearly commemmoration of the dead (May 4th) the local population gathers here, but I haven't attended.
