A unique collection of timepieces throughout the ages superbly presented. Before midday on Sunday entrance is free. Parking available too. When we went it was strangely empty which was a pity, perhaps more of an effort should be made to attract visitors

Many watches and clocks are available in the museum. You can learn about Watchmaking and many Maisons who work in this field.

This is a must-see in this region of Switzerland, especially on a Sunday when most of the country is shut down. Admission price is modest and gains you entrance to surrounding museums. The exhibits are rich in detail, easily accessed, and full of information, especially if you use the audio option, which only requires ID for use. Our eyes were opened to the wide world of timepieces and care in which they were crafted throughout the ages.

We had a coupon to visit this museum with our Neuchatel tourist cards (give by our camping site) and my partner really wanted to check it out.
There are many display cases around a large room filled with clocks, watches, and mechanisms. It's interesting to see but a warning for those with sensitive ears, there are some very high pitched chime examples on the upper floor. Regardless, some of the clocks and watches were fascinating and I enjoyed discovering the degree of variety between them. There are also lots of interactive features which means I believe this would be a good place to take slightly older children for an afternoon out when visiting La Chaux-de-Fonds. The museum is located a close walk to the train station, giving easy access for people travelling from a bit further afield.

The museum has a very interesting display of time pieces - with information about beautiful antiques to state of the art functional atomic clocks. It was worth a visit though we thought it was expensive (CHF 15). It would have been more interesting if we could have seen people using the tools to make watches/clocks. There was only a slot machine for drinks and snacks, and only a few souvenirs for sale. It would have been nice to have a bit more “hospitality” after the visit.

There is something inherently fascinating about clock mechanisms, and this museum is absolutely filled with them. From some of the earliest time keeping devices (before clocks) right up to modern atomic clocks, this collection covers them all, and explains how they work. Exquisite examples of watches from over the centuries highlight both exquisite design, and the skill in making and decorating these wonderful pieces. There are also some of the workshop tools used to make watches and clocks on display - they are wonderful in themselves. And the introductions by Monsieur Le Temp is good fun! Well worth spending a few hours here!

I love mechanical watches, and the Museum of Watches is really awesome. It shows the history of time measuring, from the most antique devices to the most modern atomic clocks. Most of them are still working, and a good number show their internal movement. And at midday you can hear a "concert" of all chiming clocks. If you want you can have an audioguide for free (with registered information in many languages) or pay for a guided tour. Hope to come again in the future,

The museum offers an in-depth view over the evolution of the watches one tends to love or at least knows. An enormous amount of historical and more modern watches and timekeepers are well presented in various way, always equipped with explanatory information and an audio guide, that leaves almost no question unanswered.
