This is a proper Mediterranean beach, beautiful warm blue sea and miles of sand. Gets busy but there’s plenty of room for all, even with the current social distancing requirements. There’s plenty of free parking with a small walk to the beach unless you’re lucky or early and get a prime spot. There’s also a few bars spread along the beach.

Playa El Moncayo is a nice "hidden" beach in Guardamar, Spain, Great Sky Beds for rent by the day. Lovely sand and not that many tourists. The beach is completely hidden if you come by car and you must walk on wooden bridges to get there. Only one hotel is connected directly to the beach.

I just want to make people aware of the possible dangers of swimming along this area of beach as I had 2 bad experiences within 5 hours. The first was me being stuck in a current which I struggled to get out of trying all different swimming strokes but eventually got out of having perseverance and moving paralell to the beach. The other was saving 2 sisters aged around 5 and 8 who got stuck in same spot i was previously in. They lost there float and were yelling for help. I got the float to them and me and another lady swam them to shore. There were no life guards present on the day. I hope this post helps to make people think before they enter the water and have a safe holiday.

You have got to be kidding us. The prices for bed is as high as an aeroplane ticket from Y to Z. The beds are unkempt and falling off the seams.

I really can't fault this beach. It is located slighly south from the busier main beach of Guardamar centre, on the N332 towards Torrevieja (less than a 5 minute drive).
Moncayo Beach has fine soft sand and is ideal for families with young children. If you want your own space, simply enter the beach, walk 50 metres and you will find nobody else around you, even in the height of Summer
There's a couple of beach bars offering snacks, drinks and ice creams all at a reasonable price. Sunloungers are available for hire, but it does get busy and more crowded in this area.
Having visited a number of beaches throughout Spain, Moncayo is certainly up there in my top 3, and for the Costa Blanca area you will struggle to find one better.
Tip - if you want free parking, after taking the exit for Moncayo Beach follow the road round, but rather than turning left towards the signed car park, continue straight and follow the road round. You will come to a left hand bend where you start to go down hill. As you pass a small hotel on your left you can then park on either side of the road and you will not be charged. It is still no more than a 5 minute walk to the beach.

Guardamar is one large and 11 km long beach divided in different zones and names. Moncayo Beach is the one which is closest to La Mata (near Torrevieja) and a beautiful wooden path from the road to the beach was built this summer. Quiet and clean and with real sand - a fantastic beach with a lot of space. Much much better than the "beaches" in Torrevieja which are actually not beaches at all but very small and crowdy.

Visited with a friend for a beach session. A beautiful beach for relaxing and playing by the sea. What I like the most about this beach is that it is quiet and peaceful. It doesn't get overcrowded, if there are too many people near you, you can always stroll down to an even quieter spot. Nice soft sand and clear blue sea. Perfect for walks and if you get hungry or thirsty, there are plenty of bars and restaurants/cafes to try.

Perfect for families, the beach was very clean and tidy, with good value beach bars in easy reach. Reasonably easy parking, the only downside was the frequent interuptions from street hawkers selling everything from sunglasses to hand bags. That aside, excellent lifeguard coverage and regular police patrols made this a safe place to enjoy yourself. Sun beds at Euro 10 per day, the beds in the picture are 20 Euros (August 2014). Enjoy.

A visit to this wonderful stretch of beach is always perfect, however a visit during the autumn simply has the edge!
Not too hot, and with hardly anyone else in sight, it makes for lovely relaxing walks.
The beach is always looked after, and very rarely do you see any litter.

It is open most days but in view of the weather that the area has experienced I couldn’t be 100% sure

Hi is there plenty of parking for this beach or would you need to arrive early?

There is plenty of parking but at peak season it does get busy.. Some spots you need to pay for and some are free. You will find parking, even when busy, if you are willing to walk just a little.

The beach beds are only available in the summer and the cost in 2018 was €35 per day. It will be clear where to rent them from when you are there. They are not something you can arrange beforehand.
