About
Every week, vendors peddle local crafts and handmade goods in the charming town of Teguise, the former capital of the Canary Island. Here you'll find local artisans and a wide range of items from pottery, baskets and jewelry to local wines and cheeses. Bargaining is expected, so be sure to haggle. There's a celebratory atmosphere at the market with traditional Canarian cuisine, live music and entertainment, but be wary of pickpockets. Visit early and beat the crowds, or stick around until closing to score last-minute steals. Consider a market tour by a local guide which includes round-trip transportation. – Tripadvisor

    Teguise Sunday Market
Wow...never been to such a large market. It literally covers most of the town. Yes, a lot of the stalls sell the same thing but it is a wonderful atmosphere. Lots to look at and options for food. We went by car - there are a number of well organised car parks on the road into Teguise (2 euro in cash to park). It is on every Sunday. Well worth a visit.

    Nice town and market
Teguise is a nice little town and the market compliments it excellently. I probably would visit the town otherwise, I doubt many others would either so the markets gives people a reason to go. Large market spread throughout the town and around the streets is so much better than just putting it in a big field or car park. Usual Adidas / Nike hats, YSL/ Prada bags and the crap found at all markets but also some nice local crafts and handicrafts. Worth a visit as the town has lots of bars and eateries apart from hotdog stands etc which markets normally attract. Lots of car parking and well organised

Like a normal market but much bigger
Went in a hire car -plenty of parking, all the same price (E2). Don't park in the first car park as it is a long walk in. Drive to the roundabout in the centre then park in the park park closest to it. When we arrived (10.45am) we couldn't use the nearest car park but, by the time we left there were plenty of spaces as people had begun leaving and the person collecting the money had left. Suggestion - arrive around midday. Plenty of the usual rubbish but some unusual items. Look at the tourist shops for anything that you might be interested in the previous day, then you know what to offer. There are free toilets in one spot in the market with an English run refreshment wagon next to them (home-made cakes) and when we visited, a few other English run stalls in the vicinity.

Nice to wander around a bit
Nice tourist market. A bit of everything, but mainly a lot of fake designer clothes. Salespeople were not pushy, as you might expect from other similar markets. Google has a location called parking market (from memory P3), this is the nearest parking lot and you can park for 2 euros. We had read many messages about parking and that it could be difficult, but when we arrived around 10 a.m. there was still plenty of space.

    Nice for the atmosphere
Think we went on the hottest day. Not much shade around. Most stalls sell similar stuff and it’s cheaper in the local gift shops. Although we haggled buying some caps and got them from €8 to €6. So don’t be afraid to haggle. Nice atmosphere but very busy. If you go on the local bus service be prepared to que for the return journey!

    Entertaining
Teguise Sunday market has over a hundred vendors. Our friends said that there is a local Lanzarote vendors’ section and an all imported mostly made in China sections. There’s plenty of food. There was a performer and hair braiding stands. By the church, there are clothing, knick knacks, aloe, bath shops.

Lots going on, but also lots of beautiful things
There is really a lot going on. A lot! But it is still nice to stroll through the market. There are some knick-knacks and useless items or fake branded products, but also some beautiful handicrafts. We were really pleasantly surprised by the prices of the beautiful things. We didn't get the impression that it was a tourist rip-off. It's worth a visit.

Busy Market and old town in Teguise
Visited on a booked trip from our hotel. A number of nice shops in the old town beyond the market day stalls. A number of small cafes. Being inland and higher up it can be rather windy and cooler than the coastal attractions. There are a couple of churches within walking distance. The main (bigger) church has a nice wooden roof, white walls and colourful windows and is free to enter. The smaller church is a museum (2 euros entry fee) which some may find a bit too graphic in terms of the religious iconography.

Ok to pass an hour or two
If you enjoy markets Teguise market is the largest on the island. There are rows and rows of the same items, clothing , bags, belts, clothing etc. and is quite spread out. There are lots of little trinket shops around the outer area of the market and places to eat and drink. It was ok to pass an hour or two but there is nothing original at this market,

    Beautiful market
Large market with lots of local handicrafts. There was also a delicious bakery on site. The bus transfer is very busy, so plan some time if possible. For those arriving by car, parking spaces are available for €2.

Worth visiting as some bits we couldn’t buy in our resort and prices better! Don’t think we saw all of the market though
too, nice little village and shops to explore though too.
Getting there was easy bus fare 5euro for 2 single, but going back AWFUL waited for the 12pm bus for ages like
other people bus arrived suddenly loads of people pushing shoving to get on who hadn’t queued like us!
We just walked away as no way would be have got on . Eventually after asking found the taxi rank and got one back to Costa Teguise for 23euros. but at least back without wasting any more time waiting. so beware !!

Very busy we jumped on a bus to get here, luckily it was the first collection point as by the second stop the bus was already to full capacity and you would need to wait another 30 mins for the next bus. This was at 9am buses stop running at 11am! Once at the market it was extremely busy, mostly fake goods which were very much over priced and repeative, the quality of goods were poor. An art area but this was limited. Limited seating areas in the shade. Trying to get a buses back at 1.30 was impossible best to get a taxi back again massive ques to get a taxi. Be prepared.

A huge Point of Sale that occupies the entire city. Various stalls, from local crafts, to local food (and not), to the classic stand of fake bags. Entering the city you are directed to large parking lots in which you can leave the car for € 2. Nothing in particular, he is popping in if you have nothing to do on Sunday morning.

There are lots of stalls, but unfortunately, they all pretty much sell the same stuff (bags, belts, hats, etc.).  There was nothing really there that you not buy from one of the Chinese shops from town. Coming back home was hell on earth. We patiently waited in the queue for a good 60 minutes, only to be shunted back by queue jumpers. Even when a man spoke up and told them to get back to the start of the queue, they all played dumb and wouldn’t move. Some people need to learn basic courtesy. If you are staying in the area, it is worth a visit to kill an hour or two, but I would not recommend making a special trip there.

Firstly I have to admit I love markers and I hesitated between leaving a one or a two star review here. Don’t get me wrong. We had a lovely day out but not because of the market! The hype around this being the biggest market on the island caught my interest. But it was extremely disappointing. Why? The stalls all seem to sell the same things. There’s no pottery. No local produce. Also. Be warned. Parking takes time. You can pay to park just outside Teguise and then walk to the market but you may need to queue to do so. So allow time in your visit for this. I expected to enjoy seeing a variety of local arts and crafts. However stalls seemed to all be selling similar products. Many selling cheap plastic and very poor fake designer bags. The saving grace was having a fabulous lunch at a great restaurant. We had been advised to visit Teguise on any day but market day and we are so glad we listened. We went the day before and it was so different . Very beautiful. Maybe there is a “plus or minus” on visiting on market day. You get the buzz of a crowd bringing the town to life on market day but the negative side of that crowd means getting a seat at a restaurant on market day is more difficult. My advise? If like me you love markets prepare to be disappointed. Go for the crowds not the stalls . Or better still. Visit Teguise another day !

Market was smaller than we thought with basically the same items you would get in shops . Although we were happy with the quality of items we bought. But boy on the way home it was chaotic!! We queued from 11 am we were told by bus driver first bus that left was 11 20 , however no bus arrived till 12 by that stage the queue was massive and everyone just charged for the bus no one cared who was in the queue. We were lucky to get on but I wouldn’t recommend it at all it was horrible we were literally squashed as everyone just kept pushing from each side people jumping over the wall to get at front of line it was a disaster. No one there to control queue or barriers

I think I can confidently say that I have never as many poor quality items piled so high in my life. The vast majority of the stalls are selling stuff that appears to have arrived in a container from China. It is so busy that it is very difficult to make your way through the throng. A strategic withdrawal to restaurant resulted in an attempt to charge us 7 euros for two small scoops of Ice cream. It was also very noticeable that few people seemed to be buying anything. I suspect that it is the Car Park owners and bus trip organisers that are making the real money. Best avoided

Don't believe the description of the Sunday market. Instead of being full of artisan stalls with local produce as it claims, it is full of imported mass market and fake designer items (hats, bags etc). If that's what you want then fine. I'd mistakenly believed the description and hoped to see local craft, food etc but was very disappointed and there were less than a dozen craft stalls in the dedicated area.
Teguise is a small quaint little town which is worth a walk around. There are few permanent touristy shops and a few bars / restaurants, but I'd suggest visiting at another time, without the huge number of bus loads of tourists too.

I feel the need to review the market because after booking our trip, I’d read some of the reviews and was already regretting it. We did go however and enjoyed ourselves. There are LOTS of Tommy Hillfiver and Christian Dire knockoffs here but also some really nice craft/handmade stalls and some really great boutiques in the old town. The market is very sprawling and so my best advice is to take note of where you came in before you go too far!! There was some shade in the old town and lots of restaurants but they were very busy. We also saw a traditional Spanish folk band playing guitars, maracas and singing which was great and got some locals up and dancing. Worth a visit in my opinion.

Teguise is very easy to reach by car and it is equally easy to find parking, the authorized parking attendants wear a yellow bib and ask for 2 euros for parking.
The market opens at 9 but I recommend going a little earlier because the real gem is the village and seeing it without the crowds of people, in silence is the best.
The market itself is a very normal market that you can also find in Italy, with some typical products (aloe, food, etc.) but mostly costume jewelery and clothes/accessories.
