A bit of a long walk from the parking and no real beach as such but this small cove had the best snorkelling in calm clear water. Watch out for the nude swimmers as you can get a shock when innocently snorkeling!

A stroll from the parking area down through the pine trees brings you out at this beautiful little cove. Scramble over the rocks to the caves or just sit at the waters edge and chill.

We took 20 minutes walking to the Coves from Cala'n Porter, however, I wish we hadn't bothered as we got to a smelly mud 'beach' where you could see a few caves in the cliffs.
I would save your time and energy and walk to one of the more remote nice beaches around the island.

My wife and I along with one of my boys went to Cales Coves early one morning setting off from nearby Cala en Porter around half seven. We literally went the very bottom of Cala en Porter and then walked along the most stunning coastline and found our own way to the coves. Just look on Google earth and you will see where to go. You will need to wear trainers or similar as the drop down into the coves is steep but sooooo worth it.

There were a few boats moored in the cove from the previous night. There were also a few people that had obviously slep the night there in a couple of the burial caves.

The water was gin clear and there were lots of different fish whilst we snorkelled.

Take it all in. Definitely worth the effort to getting up early.

Was based in Son Bou. Easy to find start of walk and well signposted. Walk ranged from nice open flat to walking up and down a series of hills. The big cave was very very impressive and the walk to the Cales Coves was made all the worth while with this at the end. The large cave was cool which was an added bonus on the hot day in June that we walked it.
Great signposts showing further details of the local wildlife and plants made the trip even more educational.
Definitely a highlight of a great holiday in this part of Menorca.
Would visit the coves again if visiting the area again

Lovely place but it does get busy! Walk around to find some hidden spots and don't be afraid to swim out if you want a lovely snorkel. Not too many fish but a beautiful cove!

A bit of a hike downhill from the car park, and almost no beach to speak of, this is such a beautiful spot; several boats (understandably) anchored here, and a few places to put your stuff in the cliff walls (inhabited higher up with caves that looked like ancient dwelling places). Bring something to drink and make sure your stuff is safely placed in the shade.

After hiring bicycles from Ciclos Tramontana for the week my wife and I decided to make good use and head out exploring as much of the Eastern tip of Menorca as possible whilst here holidaying for the week. I had heard many interesting stories about the Cales Coves, from ancient burial sites dating back to the 11th century BC to hippies inhabiting the caves right up until the mid 90’s. The ride from Es Castell is relatively easy, however make sure you stop just before the last bar and quench your thirst, I would also recommend taking your own supplies as there aren’t any places to buy drink or food once at the coves. The coves themselves are rather inaccessible and all the large ones have been boarded up to reduce vandalism, the small beach there isn’t the best, being muddy and slightly smelly. I think if you were lucky enough to be on a yacht then it would be a nice spot to moor for lunch, however if walking or cycling I personally feel it isn’t real worth the trip.

A walk of 10-15 min.
Arrived on a creek with seaweed.
Point of Sale along the rocks and found a place to jump into the water.
Difficult with children.
Not too many fish.
But the scenery changes and is pretty.
