Fish Surf School is certified by the Portuguese Surfing Federation (FPS). The technical team consists of trainers with a degree in Physical Education and Sport, assistants accredited by the FPS, with vast experience in teaching children and young people in different sports. Our students have access to all the equipment necessary to start, perfection and develop their technique in the discipline practiced (surfboard or body board, wet suits, leash, fins), avoiding the acquisition of material that soon becomes inadequate to the respective level of learning.

I booked a beginner class and turned up on my own. The class started a little late, but once we got going it was excellent and was not expensive €25 for a lesson on the beach followed by a good session in the water. Our group was taken by Diogo who was a great instructor. He offered to speak both Portuguese and English to our group, but the two Portuguese guys in my group were kind enough to speak English so that was great. The instructor was very good. He was fluent in English and gave clear instruction and feedback. I managed to get up a few times and couldn't have done so without the help. I'l happily go back again. Thanks 🌊👍

Fish Surf School is the BEST place to start surfing or to get some guidance how to improve your surfing. Teachers are really professional and know what they are doing. They have time to concentrate on you because classes are kept small and they always come to the water. Equipment that is used is good and the environment is friendly and fun :D

Excellent instruction, on time, professional great rates. We all had a really good time and a fun, safe, successful surfing experience. We're going to book many other lessons. Would definitely recommend.

Matosinhos is definitely the best beach for everyone who wants to start surfing, no doubts about it! But with the guidance of this surf school... everything got even better! Awesome professionals (they REALLY know what they are doing!) and so nice people that they even offered us the chance to go for a bite in a very cool place to taste some very typical Portuguese delicacies! Definitely a must do, a must see and must try!!

Really awesome team to surf with. Very professional and very nice people too.
Affordable and they really teach you to surf ... with a smile.

This week we visited Porto with friends and took a surfing lesson at Fish Surf School. The experience was unforgettable! So much fun! Great thanks to our trainer, who gave us lots of useful advice. He was very supportive, explained everything in detail and gave us lots of time for real practice. These guys really know their job, and their prices are much nicer than in other schools. I hope to come to Porto next summer for the proper surf course! Good luck and thank you a lot for the positive and an amazing lesson!

Others may also teach... but these guys will give you one of your life's best experience!
I've tried out some surf schools all around the world, undoubtedly FISH SURF SCHOOL is one of the best in the world! They make you comfortable and their human capital is their strength! I share this belief strongly which is why on this occasion I feel at ease in supporting this report and do so in good conscience. JóJó and it's staff contribute to the feeling that Oporto city and Portugal is Europe's "California", by making use of Portugal's wonderful beaches! Western Europe is the best place in the world to relax, enjoy good food, the best wines and to learn how to surf!

I had more than 50 classes of surfing with Fish Surf School and it was one of the best experiences of my life. I started as a very beginner without any surfing experiences before. Jojo and the other great teachers explained to me all the basics and took care of me in the water since I needed more help as a beginner of course. After a couple of months I started to join more experienced surfers so I did not have to be stuck in the beginner's classes. Fish Surf School also has all kinds and sizes of boards so you can start from a huge soft one to learn basics and then go down to a short hard board. They also have all sizes and thicknesses of wetsuits so we were able to surf even in January/February without any problems.
Thank you Jojo and the rest of Fish Surf School for everything! Cannot wait to come back to Porto and catch some nice waves!
Ps.: Fish Surf School has discounts for Erasmus students too!

Ola, tudo bem?
Me chamo Shalyse e sou metade Brasileira metade portuguesa. Acabei de me formar em Direito no Brasil e vim pra cá pois queria mudar o estilo de vida. Morei 4 anos na Australia em Manly, trabalhando em diferente lugares cafes, bares, restaurantes, creches. Me identifico muito com o estilo de surf & praia, apesar de não praticar surf.
