DouroXperience was created with a clear aim: sharing the hidden treasure of Douro Valley with everyone who is looking for a unique experience in Portugal.
Throughout the Douro river, up in the deep north of Portugal, you will experience the authentic and wild nature, along with the vineyards of Porto Wine.

What an amazing day on the Douro! The Douro Xperience was a once in a lifetime gem that we hope to make many more times. Carlos is my new best friend and knows so much about the area and is so proud of the incredible and breathtaking area he calls home that you feel like a local whether you speak Portuguese or not. The lunch at the old train station with brothers Fernando and Jean Pierre is something we are still dreaming about days after. Thank you King Carlos, Joáo, Georges, and everyone from the Douro Xperience!!!

Carlos, owner….took us down the Douro River to where we had lunch reservations…only can get to the restaurant by boat… gave us the safety guidelines for traveling in the boat..also assisted us putting on and wearing life jackets. A very nice cruise to the restaurant taking photos along the way. Carlos assisted all of us out of the boat, walked us up to the restaurant, made sure of our reservation, and was there to translate if need be.
He gave us his phone number to call when we were ready to be picked up. He was there in a timely manner. Carlos is a wealth of information who extended his aloha … we were given a fabulous tour of the river when all it was suppose to be only a boat ride to the restaurant! We were given 5-star treatment!!! Carlos does tours also!!
Make sure you look him up and the Douro Xperience. Carlos is the BEST!

What an amazing experience. Carlos runs the business and everything is personalized and tailored. On the first day he took us on a private winery tour to one of the oldest and most prestigious wineries in the Duoro - Do Vale Meao. Where we had wine tasting and the winery to ourselves. We then did a wonderful trip up and down the Douro River coming back at sunset. The next day we went to a beautiful restaurant dinner coming back with the full moon on the river at midnight. An amazing experience.
Highly recommend Carlos who is a great person, very professional and ensures safety is paramount. He can personalize a tour for you since he has a lot of contacts and is well known in the area.

What a fantastic afternoon on the Douro River with Captain Carlos! His knowledge and passion for the area are what makes his boat tour so memorable. Not to forget the amazing dining experience at Cais da Ferradosa restaurnate. Truly delicious food, wine and service. If you are looking for a special day that you will not forget this is the tour!

Carlos was a brilliant tour guide. Very friendly and accomodating, he made sure our morning tour up the Duoro was both fun and interesting, highlighted by a lighthearted race with the train with brilliant scenery.
We were quite interested in doing a tasting also, which he was able to arrange on short notice for that afternoon and again exceeded expectation.
I couldnt recommend highly enough, a true local of the area who has a genuine passion for the area and his passengers

This boat tour is amazing! Carlos, our captain is super friendly, accommodating and considerate. He knows the history of the Alto Douro, could provide a lot of anecdotes and knows the spots throughout the river. We could see different landscapes in 2 hours trip. To finish, he brought us to a typical restaurant for great fish and ribs. Highly recommended! Thank you Carlos!

I had the pleasure of riding with Carlos from a train station in the Douro Valley to a wonderful guest house in the Douro Valley I was staying at. Carlos took me to a different station to catch the train back to Porto. What a great experience! I was travelling alone and thoroughly enjoyed my trips on the beautiful Douro river with Carlos. Carlos is very friendly, kind and knowledgeable about the area. He helped make my trip to the Douro Valley truly memorable. He went out of his way to show me the area and gave me a great tour and history of this amazing port and wine making region. He even called the Portuguese rail system from out on the river to find out about the train schedule once we realized there had been a disruption in the original schedule for my train. Carlos delivered me to an alternate station in time for my rescheduled train. He even waited at the station with me to make sure I got on board this train. Thank you Carlos!!
I can’t wait to go back to the Douro Valley. The train trip is amazing. I highly recommend making travelling with Carlos part of the trip!

If you want a unique experience by boat on the Douro Superior you have to choose Douro Xperience. Carlos knows Douro river like his hands. Second time that we go on a boat trip with him and it was amazing! We had a great lunch on a restaurant over the river with wonderful Douro wines and went for a Port wine tasting. 10/10

Carlos showed the 3 of us young spirited senior women the time of our lives racing up the Douro River in his beautiful, comfortable and smooth riding boat.. what a unique wine tasting experience! I can’t wait to come back with more friends and add a lunch on the River at one of his favorite restaurants along the way

We got introduced to Carlos through our Air BnB host, Mario and how lucky we were! Carlos picked us up and took us down the river for 20km to the most magical place for lunch, where we were treated to the most delicious meal and wine. Carlos was incredibly knowledgeable and a wonderful tour guide on our first trip to the Douro. He couldn’t have done more to make us feel at home in this beautiful part of the World, and even took us further downstream to the canyon to take in the awe inspiring views some more. We would recommend Carlos to everyone we know…a highlight of our trip to Porto, and the Douro Valley with memories to last forever. Thank you so much, we would love to come again!

We did this tour in August and it was the best time we had in Duoro region. Carlos is a great host, very professional and very knowledgeable about the area. The experience was very great and very special. I highly recommend this tour if you haven’t done it before.
