About
The Zambujal Fort defended the Fonte Boa da Brincosa pass, the Senhora do Ó valley and the Estrada da Carvoeira. Forte do Juncal was a second defensive line of road access to the Mafra node. And Forte da Feira, in the village of Malveira, was a key point in the entire management of the road network that connected the coast to Lisbon.

If you're passing the area, like we were from Lisbon to Ericeira, or if you're in Ericeira and have nothing else to do, it's a 15 minute drive from Ericeira.
There's an area to park and a 2 minute walk up to the Fort.
There's some signboards to read the history of the Fort and you can walk around it. There's not a great deal to see in all honesty, hence the title, but it is quite a lovely spot on a sunny evening if there's no one else about.
When we visited, there was on one else there and it was a lovely sunset.

This napoleon era fort is located on top of a hill, commanding great views all around... it's free to visit, and about an hour walk at most from downtown Ericeira...worth checking out!
