Not sure it's worth the time
Oct 2017 • Couples
These are inside a fenced area you can get to. The road was really bad after a bit, so we walked the last 600m to the site. The signage (hard to read) indicated there are symbols on the one rock, but we could not find them.

I'd recommend a better location (there are many very good ones in the Evora area).

Two Very Different Standing Stones!
Mar 2017
It takes a while to find them! And then we had to find the long and winding rough track that leads to the high standing stones-just three of them (although we only found the two main ones)- and passing over narrow streams that crossed the track. There's good parking, once you get there, but rather rickety steps to climb up to where they are.
My impression was that they are 'male' and 'female' facing each other in their different energies. Unfortunately, the information (on its nearby board) is almost illegible.
Going back so far in time, one is awed by that connections they must have with other stones, in Europe; and what kind of culture came so far up, to put them there!

Waist of your time and gasoline
Feb 2015 • Couples
Alcoutim itself is already a waist of your time, there is simply nothing to do or to see.
It is tiny, to be specific 1 square with some ugly houses around it. The trip to Alcoutim is beautiful though. But the Menires well how do I put this gently...there is no point in seeing them. My partner loves the Menires, but he spent eactly 10 seconds there. There are 2 Menires with a fence around it? Well this was for me the one of the worst attractions in whole Algarve. The other one was near Sagres and there was 1 Menhir. No signs, no information and all the other Menhirs are gone.

Take the time
Nov 2014 • Couples
About 1km down a gravel track amongst lovely countryside, the menhires are behind a fence but quite evocative all the same.
Very peaceful and nice to just stand for a while and imagine the people who placed the stones there and why.
Not earth shattering but well worth the effort.
