The most famous, distinctive structure in Klodzko is the huge fortress that towers over the city, taking over the hill known earlier as Fortress Mount. It is definetely of the best preserved examples of fortification systems. Please take a tour with guide. It was really interesting.

On the way to Polanica Zdrój I decided to stop by to visit recomended place. I took underground option, but to be honest I was a bit dissapointed. If you like narrow, dark corridors go for it. But I can strongly recommend walls, especially with a guide. Beautiful ladscape, view and a lot of history.

Despite the windy and cold fall weather the trip was awesome! And that was because of the attractive place but mostly how it was presented by our guide! The most funny and informative guide ever! I don’t know how are services in English, but Polish was fantastic! Definitely recommended for Polish tourists:)

This is a military object not built for the purpose of beautification of a hilltop. The best view is probably from the other side of the river (or from the air). In a way ugly, but functional as a stronghold over the surrounding territory. The fortifications have a long history, but the bulk of the construction was established under Prussian rule and dates from around 1760, though important innovations were brought about towards the end of the 1800s. I understood they are going to reconstruct the old lift in a tunnel connecting the fort with the town.

I did not visit the tunnel system, but walked around a newly made steel gangway midway the walls and the valley. I also did a hike following the eastside of the river northward until you reach an old railway bridge which you can cross and then follow a road that leads back to Klodzko behind the fort (hill). In all 5 km partly through nature. Even saw otters swimming in the river.

This huge fortress dominates the town of Klodzko. We accessed it via the Klodzko Underground Route but alot of the fortress can only be accessed by tour. There were nice views from the ramparts. There was a lapidarium here containing stone work from the fortress.

It is an interesting place for Military History Lovers. Very large, well preserved place, once being a home to thousands of soldiers, armed with hundreds of cannons. It has an interesting history, and is easily accessible, as located near to Klodzko City Center. A place worth visiting, You need at least 2 hrs to make a full sightseeing tour.

Lovely old Prussian fort that had a role in the Napoleonic wars. Lots of walking but loads to see. The whole fort is free entry, the tunnels you have to pay to tour as you get a tour guide. The tunnels are not for the claustrophobic..they get quite narrow and very dark (Mobile phones are useful). The town is very pretty too, well worth a visit.
