About
At the farmhouse "Le Pietre Vive di Montaperti" you can enjoy traditional Tuscan cooking classes. Nonna Ciana & Team will teach you how to prepare typical Italian dishes, such as fresh homemade pasta (tagliatelle, tagliolini, pappardelle etc), gnocchi (potato dumplings), main courses, things like chicken with Vin Santo or with our homegrown saffron or maybe one of our delicious vegetarian second courses with eggplant, peppers or zucchini. This is followed by a typica Tuscan dessert. At the end of the class you will eat these delicious dishes, accompanied by our own Chianti Colli Senesi wine, all together, with the team and the other participants in the class in the best Italian tradition.

Great Cooking with Nona!
Nov 2021
My husband and I took this class together, and had a fabulous and delicious time! We felt completely at home and welcome in Nona's kitchen. Heather was a terrific translator (to English) and cook helper to Nona, so we a tremendous amount of personal attention as we were the only participants in "the class". The recipes we made were yummy, and we were sent home with a batch of pasta and sauce recipes we are now capable of making once we buy our long wooden rolling pin for the pasta! I highly recommend this experience. All ingredients are local and yummy. Including wine from their own vineyards. Thank you so much Nona!!

One of the highlights of our Italy trip
Sep 2021
We are so glad we found this cooking class - it was the BEST!! My friend and I took the class; we were lucky we were the only two in the class. The attention to detail was just marvelous. Each step was explained in detail. We loved all the stories. I could not believe that I actual made the pasta - it was delicious - OMG - the best. I highly recommend taking the class, you will not be disappointed. It by far exceeded by expectations.

Honeymoon Cooking Class
Oct 2021 • Couples
My husband and I are on our honeymoon and took this cooking class together. We both enjoyed it. We don't know Italian, but they were able to translate and it was so fun to learn! We are already looking forward to making more pasta when we get home. Just have to buy a long and wooden rolling pin. 😉 Such a wonderful experience with great company. Highly recommend taking this class.

Fun, delicious, educational class! Loved Nonna
Sep 2021 • Friends
This was an awesome class, one of my favorite days in Tuscany. Nonna and Heather make a great team with seamless translating. You are involved enough but they also provide a lot of guidance and help to make the cooking easier especially for the complex steps, which also saves time! The day was so much fun, really educational, and the food was absolutely incredible. We made tagliatelli from scratch with courgettes and saffron (from their farm!), 3 types of bruschetta, and chicken, plus a vegetarian option (aubergine). All was fantastic and would highly recommend for all types of groups (any age, family, friends, etc). Oh and the wine was from the vineyard on-site and fantastic!

Wish it was more “hands on”
Jul 2021 • Friends
While it was fun and felt authentic, it was much less “hands on” than I thought. It was a multi-course meal but we didn’t do much besides the pasta course. We only watched them make the dessert and the chicken dish, only chopped tomatoes for the bruschetta. It was frustrating because I wanted to get in there and do the prep! I’d say it was 70% observing, 30% hands-on.

I have been to several cooking classes abroad (Barcelona, Rome, etc…) and this was the least participatory.

The staff are really nice and fun! Good wine to pair. Gorgeous setting!

Thank you for the nice review. I'm sorry you felt you would have liked to participate more..the class takes place in our farmhouse kitchen, not a purpose-built school kitchen with individual "stations", so the actual cooking is of necessity on our big range stove, not each person cooking their portion, but you do do a lot of prep and especially the making and rolling of the fresh pasta... all by hand, no machinery ...and we eat in the kitchen around that big farmhouse table so you don't miss any of the later stages in the process. Hope you are also enjoying trying out the recipes at home!

Authentic class to increase your skills
Aug 2021
Fantastic course, really authentic and informative, giving some science behind the art the whole way through. Even though we arrived late we were still given the time to go through the full experience.
The location is also stunning and certainly worth taking a bit of extra time to look around!

I recently took my family-15 in all ranging from ages 9 to 77. We enjoyed the experience immensely. Nonna and her assistants Heather, Sandra and Kevin were all a delight. This was one of the highlights of our trip to Tuscany.
