Baroque in Noto
Sep 2021
The view to this church along the ascending street will certainly make you want to take a picture. As with most of the Baroque churches in Val di Noto, Monevergine is a bit understated inside, but still with many interesting details.

Nice church
Sep 2020
Not the nicest church, but you can also climb to the top and enjoy a view over Noto. Not so impressive as the one from the monastery though.

Awesome views
Dec 2019
The Chiesa di Montevergine is not very large however it is quite lovely. The best part of this church are the awesome views from the church tower. The climb is not very tough however the stairway is narrow. But when you reach the top, you have wonderful views over the town of Noto. I couldn't stop taking photos. Definitely worth the climb.

Good views both of the church and from it
Aug 2019
Another great example of the enlightened town planning after the earthquake in 1693, the elliptical church of the Montevergine forms a perfect closure at the top of the street. I didn't find the interior terribly interesting, but the climb up the steps of the twin towers is worth the effort and small cost (€2) to get a view over the rooftops of Noto.

Small church but the view up the top is moce

Small church, don’t mean to be rude but there are nicer churches in Sicily. But if you pay €2 each you can climb the windy spiral staircase (if you don’t mind a lot of steps up a windy narrow staircase). Nice view from the top. We only spent a few minutes here.

Off the season visit

We wanted to have a moment with the place before it gets busy. It’s is so nice looking at this beauty without any distraction at all. For sure we will be back in May for their special event. More over, it is easy to locate and perfectly situated with a nice view.

A church with a view
Oct 2016 • Couples
There are many churches in Noto but we headed to Montevergine Church as we noted that you were able to climb to the roof terrace to see great views of the city. It's steep - it's narrow but worth the effort. There is a very old dilapidated organ in one recess and you can see down into the church through the wooden "fan". The interior of the church was a surprise - clean white walls with beautifully painted ceiling.

Histrically important

Make sure you visit with a knowledgeable guide. The steps to the tower are quite steep but the view is worth the effort.

A well proportioned church
Sep 2016 • Family
Great view of the church as you go up the street in front of it - Civic planning and architecture at their best as you see it framed by the palaces on either side of the road.

A nice little church - Currently has a display on the religious guilds of the town which is interesting as a piece of social history.

Interior and exterior are superb

There are fantastic balconies on the outside, with richly carved figures supporting the overhang. Inside is as magnificent.
