Hard to say how long you need to see this...it depends on your interest for detail and there is SO much of that. We had about 30 minutes but I am going back to spend more time! What an amazing place! And don't miss the little, restored pipe organ at the end on the left. A story-book church like few others!

This church, like many others in Lecce, is very Baroque in nature. The beautiful art and architecture that ornately decorates this church make it worth a visit.

The small town of Galatina has few big churches and this one is one of them. it has great baroque facade and interesting indoor.

Gothic masterpiece churches are the cat's meow of southern Italy (most especially Puglia it seems) and Chiesa Madre dei Santi Pietro e Paolo (quite a trio and mouthful) is a fitting name for a structure so chockablock loaded with visual opulence. Combined with the Santa Catarina Basilica, Galatina packs a one two punch of Middle Ages Christian architectural achievement.
Take the time to see both these historic and reverential sites and walk about the lovely town of Galatina for a bit before engaging the nearby pristine and most engaging coastal areas nearby.
