Visitors should visit this cathedral when in Fabriano, as it has beautiful works of art and a peaceful atmosphere. The hidden gem, frescoes of Allegretto Nuzi from 14th century, are inspired by Giotto’s work. They are rich in colours and vibrant in their beauty. I recommend you to sit down, enjoy the beauty and say a little prayer to nourish the soul.

There are surprising frescoes behind the altar from the 1200's. If you are in the neighborhood of Fabriano, it is definitely worth a visit.

We were lucky to meet a volunteering guide, who showed us many things beyond the baroque interior of this duomo. You should not leave without seeing the magnificent medieval fresco's of the earlier church now still to be seen in small Chapels in the extreme far left and right corners. If no guide is available, ask a local person about the frescoes of Nuzi and others. Such amazing colours!
Our guide, who seemed to have the keys of all the churces in Fabriano, also brought us to the monastry opposite the Cathedral, with more beautiful paintings and a miraculous woodcarved ceiling with Maria and the apostels. After that, we were guided to a church that is that reveres Giovanni del Bastone, a saint with a healing stick. This walking cane can still be seen in the sacristy amoug other relics. Again many frescoes showing the life of this saint. Finally, we were shown a church, that is no longer in use, but that is much loved by the local inhabitants because of the influential historic events that took place here. In 1436 the male members of a tyrannic ruler's family were killed here by the angry population. Now, expositions and meetings are held here and people arrange their marriages in this former church. In it we saw the former woodcarved choir, replaced from the Cathedral, where it stood originally.
