This beach, nestling in a cove surrounded by two rocky headlands, embraces the visitor. It can get quite windy later in the afternoon, when the sea temperature has risen to encourage the winds to blow on-shore. Parking is ample after the longish drive here, but...More

One of the most popular beaches at Paliki peninsula, quite commercial, however all kinds of visitors can find their places. In time of our visit there were quite nice waves and unfortunately dirt spot as well.

A fine destination having toured around the hills of this peninsula across from Xi Beach and Lixouri. Down the increasing tiers of hairpin bends to the shores of this dramatic beach, resembling a younger cousin of Myrtos. On the day we arrived a strong wind...More

Lovely setting but not a sand beach all pebbles. You definitely need beach shoes to enter the water. Parasol and two sun beds €6 for the day. Lovely beach cafe to have dinner whilst watching the sunset. Very inexpensive.

Not sure where you are staying but from Lixouri it takes about 25 mins driving. Very steep, winding road down to beach and extremely busy on weekends and during August. There are hotels in that area, you can google them. If... More

Help, which route (2 Replies)
Travelling from Petani bay down to Skala in September and I cannot decide which route to take, the coastal road or into Lixouri and catch the ferry. Has anybody driven down the coastal road, are the views worth it, any advice would be appreciated.

Hi dfoggy, Four basic routes depending on time etc. 1. Petani to Lixouri, ferry to Argostoli then South coast road to Skala. Probably quickest. 2. Petani round top of lagoon to Katochori then South to Argostoli followed by route 1. The views as you drive round the lagoon and then down to Argostoli are really nice. 3. As 2 but when you reach the Drapano Bridge opposite Argostoli take the road towards Sami, turn right as if going to Mount Ainos but don't take the next turning to Ainos but...More

Travelling to Petani Bay hotel (8 Replies)
Hi Everyone, I am travelling to Cephalonia in July with my husband and daughter who will be 18 months old. We picked the hotel due to its reviews on tripadvisor so we know it's a bit away from it all. I have a few questions to help me get organised for our first family holiday abroad. 1. Is there a mini market / supermarket near to the hotel? Somewhere we can get yogurts, milk, bread, drinks etc? We will be eating out for most of the holiday but we will need somewhere to get basics...More

Are buses running during early June? (3 Replies)
Hi, I am planning to visit Cefalonia at the end of May/early June and to visit the island by bus. I will be staying in Argostoli and would like to take day trips to Sami, Myrtos beach, Fiskardo, Skala, Petani beach, among others. Do you know if buses are running on a daily basis in this period of the year? Thank you in advance for your help!

Put Myrtos beach at the bottom of your list. It looks wonderful from above but is very disappointing after a long winding road down. It is not sand but fine gravel, swimming is dangerous at times because of the current, and the snack bar is prepacked sandwiches , not good. Just further along is the village of Assos, again a long winding road down but a lovely village at the bottom , with great tavernas with lovely views over the bay. The tiny beach is pebbles, but swimming in the small bay is...More
