Not worth the trip today - maybe some other time
Jan 2020 • Solo
Castle looked great from the outside, but the inside was limited to a set of scenes and production processes for the 1973 GDR/Czechoslovak production of Cinderella (3 Hazelnuts). Hmmmm.....

Great castle
Dec 2019
It is very nice castle, very famous for a czech-german fairy tail. There is also a presentation dedicated to this fairy tail.
There is a lake around the castle, but in December there was no water.

Sunday at chateau
Oct 2019 • Family
Definitely a place worth to visit. Very picturesque chateau in middle of a pond. The tour is without a guide and unfortunately the number of accessable rooms is limited to just a few. Behind the chateau is a small garden, but you can have at least a nice small walk around the pond from there. To get here via public transport from Dresden, take bus number 477 from Bahnhof Neustadt. You can by tickets before, just remember you need ticket for two tariff zones. Otherwise you should buy ticket from driver. Have nice day!

A must do for chateau lovers
Sep 2019
My wife and I spent three nights in Dresden, and on our final touring day, had our guide drive us over to Moritzburg and Meissen.

Our expectations as to visiting Schloss Moritzburg were high, and we were not in the least bit disappointed. The symmetrical old hunting lodge is a magnificent structure worthy of a 360 degree walk around, followed by purchase of the E8 ticket for an interior tour. We did not make use of the audio guide, as we had our own guide with us pointing out highlights, plus there are a large number of plaques in the rooms offering explanations in both German, and thank goodness English as well for the benefit of those among us who are non-German speakers.

There are several rooms to be seen, in all honesty most look pretty similar with limited interior furnishing and aged leather walls, but there was one exhibit and one live demonstration clearly indicating the painstaking process involved in rehabilitating the centuries old interior walls. A highlight was certainly the dining room, a bright airy large room with multiple animal heads and numbers underneath each showing the number of antler points present.

The clean and no-charge restrooms were appreciated.

There is a very attractive dining facility on site but was not a place for us to stop as we were there in the relatively early morning.

Interior photography is allowed, of course without flash.

A nice gift shop is also on the premises.

We covered the whole tour to our satisfaction within about 45 minutes, though I imagine that if you use the audio guide (E2 plus refundable E8 deposit), one could spend more time absorbing more detail.

Long story short, if you are a chateau lover, you will not want to miss Schloss Moritzburg.

Schloss Moritzburg is an absolutely stunning castle - a must see being in Greater Dresden Area - it is definitely worthwhile to visit the chambers indoors and have an extensive walk around this beautiful castle

Park? No park in moritzburg
Aug 2019 • Family
The castle , exteriors are great. But we left the parks after 10 mins - extremely dry, no grass, flowers have never seen this place. Prepare the coins for parking as the machines don’t accept cards (need special Application for it and to change bills was a problem)

Loved the outside
Jul 2019 • Solo
I just wanted to make a quit stop at Moritzburg but ended but staying the whole day. Very relaxing place with a nice view on the park and the castle. Highly recommend to escape from the city and masses of tourists. I prefered the outside better than visiting inside the castle, mostly because I didn't take the audio guide and all the descriptions were in german. It was still fun.

Loved the Leather Walls
Jul 2019 • Couples
Loved to go to this place! It was beautiful and very very interesting. Who would have thought that a leather wall could be so beautiful! The only downside is that there isn’t an English translation to each of the displays but still it is worth the trip.

Well worth a visit
Jun 2019 • Couples
Moritzburg is a very special location with very extensive grounds and a couple of vey interesting buildings - the main castle and the smaller ‘Fasanen Schlosschen’. Of the two, the Fasanen Schlosschen is the more attractive because it has a feminine delicacy which most of the other Saxon castles/palaces lack. Our guide round that part of the site was very knowledgeable and keen to share that knowledge, but she did speak at a very rapid rate - and only in German! There are printed notes in English for those who do not speak or understand but they, as is not unusual, do not not contain all the information that is imparted verbally. We did not get there until after lunch, simply because of the way the tram and train timetables tied in with each other, but I would recommend arriving as early as possible in the day as you can in order to give yourself enough time to cover the whole site.

Excellent Baroque castle. Easy access via public transport.

Wow, beautiful hunting/pleasure castle and very interesting inside. Recommend the audio guide. Many rooms on 2 floors are part of the self guided tour. Don't miss the video presentation upstairs that explains how the guilded and painted leather "wallpaper" was made. It's in German with English subtitles. We spent 2 hours touring the inside. Enjoyed it and learned some interesting things. There's a nice cafe on site. Note on the audio guide - there's a 10 Euro deposit in addition to the 2 Euro rental fee. We thought we were overcharged but asked a museum attendant about it and he explained the deposit fee. Cashier didn't mention it when we paid. Public transport: Take tram 11 from Postplatz over the river to the Neustadt train station ( it's about 4 stops ) Then take bus 477 from in front of the train station. You can buy tickets on the bus. We bought a family day bus pass for 9 Euro. Get off about 35 mins later at the Moritzburg Schloss stop (just ask the driver if you're unsure.) It's a short walk to the castle on your left as you exit the bus. To find the 477 return bus stop, turn right as you exit the castle and then turn left at the first street and it's about a 2 minute walk up the street. You'll see the bus timetable sign. Highly recommend. The outskirts of Dresden that you'll see on the bus ride are quite nice.
