Beautiful palace! We went by car and the parking was around 3 euro for 2 hours but we did not need that much time because we did not go inside the castle. The best pictures can be taken however from outside of the island where the castle is located because then you can have the water on the photo too. My last photo was taken from the parking lot a bit further away from the castle. Nice activity on a sunny day. But don't expect much, I think one hour is okay.

The eighteenth-century baroque castle of Moritzburg is one of the most famous in all of Saxony, above all for its particular and scenic location, on an islet in the center of an artificial lake. Built on the site of a 16th century hunting lodge, it is externally characterized by the four cylindrical corner towers, as well as the staircase and terrace, decorated with numerous statues. The visit of the internal rooms, although there are some beautiful rooms and the palace chapel, proves to be less exciting than its external view. A guide in tablet format is provided with the entrance ticket and it is possible to visit any temporary exhibitions. Easily accessible from Dresden, it represents a pleasant destination for a day trip.

Short holiday in Germany: Berlin then Dresden then Leipzig. We are in Dresden but on the advice of a friend, we go to visit Moritzburg Castle even if the day is not the best due to an annoying drizzle.
The baroque castle stands on an islet in the middle of an artificial lake and has a beautiful garden and is surrounded by a park.
We enter and we are given, included in the ticket price, an I-Pad as a guide. Well, what can I say, it was wonderful to visit the mansion because for each room we had two choices available: in one to have information about the room and in the other to relive the room with the setting and the suggestions of the time (costumes of the protagonists, convivial moments , music, etc.). Truly remarkable.
Very well organised, we definitely recommend it!
If there had been a sunny day.....

We visited by car on the way to Dresden. The town of Radeburg is a gorgeous little town with the lake and castle in its centre. We went in winter and didn't go inside as the queues of locals were spanning all the way across half the bridge to see the winter exhibit of a classic German Grimms fairytale movie filmed here. There was a cute Xmas market on front of the castle gates too. The building is stunning from all sides, the location is amazing and the views very pretty. It is a lovely place. I wished we could have looked inside. Circumventing the castle, you can peek inside to see the works of the stonemason reconstructions. Well worth it. Across the bride, you can take horse carriage rides of varying lengths. There was a long queue too and there is a great restaurant straight across the bridge.

On 04.10.2024 there were three of us at Moritzburg Castle. Unfortunately, I have to leave a not so good review.
Admission was 12€ for one person.
Far too expensive for too little to look at. It was very much cordoned off in the castle and you could not look at much. You got a tray, which was sher good, but still too expensive for the whole thing.

Impressive restauration on the outside and ever better on the inside. At first glance you just see som old furniture, pictures, porcelain and wallpaper but with the histo-pads it all comes alive and gives you the experience of actually being there in 1723. You must get the histo-pads when you buy the tickets and it will allow you to discover all the rooms and items without a guide.

Despite accidentally visiting on the same day as the Moritzburg Castle Triathlon, I was able to find parking close by and had an excellent visit of this hunting lodge. I loved the Histopad you get with your ticket which helped give you a glimpse of what courtlife would have been like during the castle's hayday. I was surprised that it wasn't more crowded but perhaps everyone was more focused on the triathlon than touring the castle. I didn't mind. I enjoyed the people free tour and having the place mostly to myself.

We visited Moritzburg Castle on September 22nd and took a one-hour carriage ride through the beautiful castle park. In between there was a surprising stopover, during which I proposed to my Christiane - directly opposite the lighthouse. Yeah, she also said YES clearly!:-)
It was a very romantic trip and we would love to come back to this beautiful place at the next opportunity. On December 22, 2023, we got married civilly in Bonn. ☺️

I was disappointed. For me it was a tourist trap. A lot of money for what felt like very little "3 Hazelnuts for Cinderella". Nothing fairytale-like, more like a costume exhibit.
I didn't have any shining eyes. Compared to a few years ago, it was a complete disappointment for me. AND the Moritzburg Christmas market is not on the Moritzburg but opposite, behind the large car park. It is small and nice though and would have fit well on/at the castle.

This castle is really a jewel.
It has a ton of state room. You can rent tablets, that give you extra information and little games, perfect for adults ... and teens/kids, in different languages.
Also this makes it possible to visit the castle at your own pace, instead of a rushed guided tour.
