Took a Viking tour outside of Bamberg, Germany. It stopped a Schloss Seehof, a magnificent baroque Palace. The Palace is a quadrangle with towers at each corner. The grounds are symmetrical and laid out entirely around the palace. One side features a fountain with statuary and a pool and cascade. All very impressive. There was a guided tour of the interior, and we were allowed to take photos! Gift shop and coffee shop in the Orangery. The main salon is a wonder! It is the most tastefully decorated baroque room I saw on my whole trip! Well worth the stop!

We enjoyed a lovely walk in the garden. Water cascade is considered one of the most beautiful in Franconia. The interior of the mansion was restored recently - in 2004.

Large parts of the palace are under renovation as were several statues in the garden which whilst necessary rather spoilt the views. From the outside. You can only go inside the palace on guided tours at set times, unfortunately they do not do any tours in English. I understand that we would have been given cards in English to read as we went round, but we decided not to bother. It would be helpful if they had headphones with different language guides available so that there isn’t the need to wait for set times to see inside. Prices were however reasonable at €5 per person for the tour. We also found the gardens disappointing, although large it is mostly trees and hedges and no flowers. The cafe in the grounds was lovely and a great spot for lunch.

Schloss Seehof, a summer residence outside of Bamberg, Germany is average at best. Restoration is ongoing and the attraction employees are in need of restoration as well.
We were please that we were able to purchase a combo admission ticket to both Seehof and the New Residenz in Bamberg at the Gift Shop. Price was €7.00.
The Docent that guided the tour (30 mins) was knowledgeable. The only option for the tour is in German so we got more from the minimal English literature available than the tour. The benefit of the tour is that you get to go up to the 1st floor (2nd floor for us Americans).
Access to the schloss was easy from road and parking was very accessible.
If time is a factor in your day around Bamberg, skip Schloss Seehof.

This palace was built as a summer residence for the prince bishop of Bamberg and you can tell it was once glorious. It is now in a very sad and neglected condition and is somewhat depressing to visit although one can see the grandeur that once was. We saw it during a Viking Franconian Countryside tour and it might be difficult to access outside of an organized tour. In its present condition, it only rates 3 stars. Too bad a treasure is rotting in front of everyone. To take another example, the gardens used to have 400 statues but now only 40 or so.

Driving past we saw this beautiful castle and a stop was a must. The gardens with all the citrus trees was lovely and the house and garden at the back had a fantastic fountain so well a visit. The statues around are replicas but you can still see some of the real ones inside a tent before leaving.

We were able to bike here. For that experience it was fun and worth it. Try and plan your visit to watch the fountains working. For some reason they're on a schedule which is mostly off. They are picture worthy. There are some interesting statues left, made more interesting by the fact that most of them are gone. Where you see a planted pot/tree, just know that at one time there was a statue. Once there were over 400 but sometime in the 70's the owners decided to start selling them off before the conservancy could buy the property.

Seehof is a very nice palace in the country near Bamberg. Not very big but interesting. Great guide made sure we understood and pointed out things that were not on the printed English tour. The fountains in back are worth seeing. Wonderful café. Plenty of parking.
