After driving for almost an hour until my husband & I reached this amazing blue turquoise lake in Balubeuren, a charming town in Southern, Gemany. Very scenic, refreshing, picture perfect. A good, short walk around the lake. At the end is a souvenir store &...More

River runs out of limestone mountain, walking trails, nice cafe for drink or light lunch. Can get jammed on weekends and parking is limited. Beautiful water and setting!

My girlfriend, Ingeborg lives nearby and was anxious to show me this mysterious natural lagoon. The folklore surrounding this lagoon harkens back hundreds of years. Nearby, one of the little shops show a film about how it was developed and is maintained. There are numerous...More

A small but fascinating output of the natural aquifer. The surrounding area filters the rain water through the hills and out of the Blautopf. A small quaint village surrounding the "pond" with beautiful buildings and the imposing monastery. Small groups of persons walk around the...More

This was a quick but, beautiful stop on the way to Garmish. I wish we could have stayed a little longer. The leaves are changing and the sun was shining, and there were no crowds. The surrounding village was so charming. The stunning color of...More

I have not seen water with this colour anywhere else. Definitely worth a visit. But it is very crowded, the footpath around the (very small) lake is full of people taking selfies...

From the station to Blautopf it is about 1.5 km. There are a few irregular bus connections (lines 365 and 369) with a 15 minute drive. But it is much nicer to take a leisurely walk through the old town from Blaubeuren to the... More
