Wonderful

Whilst not everything is related to Dumas, it is nevertheless fascinating and well worth the visit. What a lovely surprise to find a non fee paying museum. The vast array of old diving equipment on display is incredible, if you’re a Cousteau or a diving fan this place is absolutely worth the visit.

Interesting Little Museum!
Sep 2019 • Couples
We were staying in Sanary for three weeks and we found this little museum on one of our walks. It was just one room, but was a really excellent museum, with so many exhibits to look at in the glass display cabinets. A treasure trove of the history of diving!

My only slight criticism was that all the labels were in French and although I speak good French, the technical language used on most of the labels, made it very difficult to fully understand and thereby appreciate all the exhibits and their importance in the development of diving. I was also treated quite rudely by the lady working there, who told me to be quiet when I was translating certain things for my husband. The museum was relatively empty, so I was not only extremely embarrassed by this, but very cross.

However, this is obviously a very important museum for Sanary and France. I would certainly visit again, but would hope that a different curator might prove more ‘user-friendly’!

Small museum, friendly staff

This is a very small museum, but worth seeing. I believe all descriptions were completely in French. I enjoyed our conversation with the woman working there. Many cool artifacts that show the evolution of scuba!
