A town with strong connections with the kings of England, The castle was the property of the Norman kings of England. Bring a camera the views are spectacular, a great place to explore on foot. There are excellent bars and restaurants to make a it great day out.

Although slightly biased has we have a house in nearby Passais, Domfront is somewhere I have visited extremely often in the last 13 or so years. Excellent historic castle ruins plus interesting links to the post D-Day advancement during the battle of Normandy. Wonderful Byzantine style church that obviously strikes a beat with not just us Catholics but anyone who appreciates such architecture. Domfront place that should be packed but wether fortunately or unfortunately (depending on your view) is almost deserted most of the time.

You can wander around and not see anyone else. The panoramic view form the top is amazing. Visit the castle, the church and sit and have a coffee/beer and watch for others. Its a very beautiful medieval town.

We spent a couple of hours wandering around this stunning little hilltop town. If Domfront were situated in the U.K. It would be swarming with tourist on a Sunday in July. It was possible to take pictures without a single person in sight. The medieval buildings, cobbled streets, hidden courtyards, castle ruins, are great to explore. This town will not disappoint.
