Wonderful new museum
Jan 2020
We've visited a lot of the WWII museums in Belgium, but this new addition to the genre is not to be missed. It's been a labor of love for the owner, and the way that he has added film clips to displays that would be okay but static has really given life to them. Highly recommend.

well what to say, small wonderful, packed with information about the battle of Bulge and in particular the American 106 division Museum. The 106 nearly got wiped out at Manhay. a Huge loss on both side. This museum show it very well. Recently built by 2 people using their own money and they have done a wonderful job. Make the effort as you will not be disappointed

Fantastic museum - lovingly built by enthusiasts - recommended

Reviews on the internet said it would be good and we ourselves were delighted. Easy to find and set in beautiful countryside. Small but well designed and inexpensive. The museum's dioramas are terrific - so much care has been taken to tell the story using uniforms and relics lovingly donated to the museum and filmed backdrops using reinactors to set the scene. The short film-show in one room brought to life the evocative story of this village and local area during the dark, snowy days of the Battle of the Ardenne - clearly life was miserable and frightening for the troops and civilians. There's lovely staff, plenty of parking plus an interesting shop - and a tank right outside the door. Perfect!

To be honest we stumbled across this Museum but I'm glad we did. Tells the story of the local battle using modern techniques. The short film put together using footage taken in 1944 was really moving and well put together, the fact that such things could happen in what appears now to be a quiet innocuous village is almost unbelievable. It exemplifies the terrible things that can arise from the growth of nationalism, unfortunately that seems to be happening again. Recommended.

Informative and interesting

One of many WWII museums in the area. This one is recently opened. Modern is perhaps not the word to use, but the whole museum is the opposite of run-down. The displays tells the story about the village the museum is in.
What I missed was some more written information about the pieces on display. You really don't know what it is that you are looking at.
inside it was also pretty narrow, so in case of lots of visitors it will get cramped.
Not one of the bigger museums which is not a disadvantage at all, it makes it a bit more easy to grasp.

I like the idea that is used of young soldiers getting on a ship to Europe as start of their journey and you follow those soldiers during their battles in the area from Grandmenil to Baraque Fraiture.
The films with reenactors used in the dioramas are also a great idea, it lets the dioramas come to life.
What i miss a bit is text and some extra maps, the museum tells the story about the battles in the area. A timeline with maps would help, supplemented with stories about the events when you walk through the museum.
On the whole it is a beautiful museum that is well thought about, a worthy newcomer between the already existing museums.
