You need to call and reserve in advance if you want to a guided tour. We had a very friendly and informative guide who explained the history of the abbey, the monks and of course the beer and current brewery. The buildings are original and renovated. You can walk around the grounds for free without access to the brewery. In... More

Came across the abbaye while driving through the area and stopped to explore a bit. We are so glad we did. The abbaye itself is very nice but the grounds and gardens are absolutely beautiful. Even though it was raining it was the perfect place to stop and walk around. So lovely.

Beer is amazing, just that we order triple but was served double. It's good to dine in the restaurant except the long waiting queue. Crepe is bad but meatball is very good

Maybe you came for the beer and ended up loving the relaxing beauty of the gardens, maybe you came for the gardens and ended up in the cellars buying a brilliant little piece from an artist exhibiting in the underground gallery. maybe you came for an exhibition or an event and ended up falling in love with this whole peaceful... VAL-DIEU ABBEY is situated not far from the little Belgian town of AUBEL and not far from the Dutch border and province of South Limburg. For holiday makers it is best reached by car ( or coach party). A sat-navigation system will be helpful by simply entering its address as its destination. It's a nice place to walk in the garden and visit the old church. There is a small café and you can visit a brewery (not allways open!)

When you are in the area of Aubel you should really visit Val-Dieu Abbey and it's surroundings (the brewery and park). In the park you can find 18 different kinds of trees and it is a beautiful area to walk around. At the abbey there is also a cafe restaurant where you can taste the famous Val Dieu beer (... More

We only stopped over at the abbey during a long bike trip for a bite to eat and a drink,so didn't visit the abbey. On the outside it looked great though. The restaurant le casse-croute is a self service restaurant so on a beatifull day you need to queue to order food and drinks.Restaurant staff is very friendly. Hot food... More

Our dad was stationed at this Abbey during the Battle of the Bulge in WWII. The staff was so accommodating to take time to show us around and especially the places where we had photographs of Dad during his stay 70 years ago!
