Having failed to see any drift ice on the ocean, a walk along the cliff top near the lighthouse revealed the last remnants of ice that had blown into a nearby cove. There’s a great chance of getting good photos from the road leading up...More

I've loved capes since years ago. The feeling when you're right beside the vast ocean with barely any horizon line at sight. The scenery during winter was epic. The cold and the wind so strong it could wobble your feet made it so dramatic. I...More

Went there in early June. The dandelions in flowers made a nice surrounding to the black and white lighthouse. Seems to be popular among Chinese speaking as it was used as the location for a popular Chinese movie. Saw some people renting bikes and coming...More

Set a little way off the coastal road, this was a pleasant enough place to spend a few moments enjoying the scenary of the sea and countryside with the backdrop of the lighthouse. The car park has a public toilet.

My wife and I drove out to the Cape of Notoro to see the frozen sea. We saw three Steller's eagles soaring overhead and could see Mt Rausu to the east. On the drive back to Abashiri we could see the Shireitoku peninsula range with...More

We’d hired a cab to drive us on a tour of Abashiri and asked to visit the lighthouse as part of our tour. We saw Steller’s Sea Eagles on the way there and also saw one soaringly over the cape. Nice views of the sea...More

We arrived here one cloudy day close to sunset and there was nobody here. What a bleak landscape ! The drive up to the cape was also beautiful with the ocean on one side and hills on the other. We walked around all the paths...More

Took a short car ride to the cape from town and it had beautiful views of the sea. There's a lighthouse there and there were big open spaces where you could walk around and take beautiful pictures on a cool, sunny day. Recommended to take...More
