Visiting the shrine of itsukushima is a surreal feeling. I wonder how the Japanese people preserve this UNESCO Heritage site in such a way that visitors come and go in thousands. The area is clean and full of history. The presence of herds of deer is an added bonus.

It is well known that Itsukushima Shrine is beautiful and famous in its unique architecture. But it couldn’t be better if you can see the shrine softly shining in the background of pale orange light in early morning. Furthermore, the shrine opens at around 6:30 when very few people there. This is the best time to take photos of the shrine itself. Because the shrine successfully transforms itself between in the high tide and the low tide, you can experience this magic like landscape if you stay in Miyajima.

Kagami-no-Ike ( the pond of mirror in which natural water comes out ) appear in the low tide. That was so clear and beautiful.

Nothing really fanciful about the shrine. Most people come here for the great tori. And I realised you can actually walk into the shrine during Low tide and save on entrance fee lol! Only realised it after payment and saw many students walking on sand banks to access the shrine. LOW TIDE only. And u don’t have to enter the shrine to actually take a photo with the great tori.
