quiet simple Onomichi
Nov 2017 • Family
i've been to Onomichi last April 2015. I enjoyed shopping, the food we're very good. coming from the Philippines everything was so new to me. Last Nov 2017 together with my family we visit Onomichi. More interesting place. some renovations we're made at the Onomichi train station. The park, the restaurants, mall, temple at the park, and the people we're so courteous. What complete me as a tourist is the serenity of the place. If i will have a chance to be back in Japan, surely I'll be back to Onomichi.

They offer a good map for free

The staff was very friendly and spoke English fluently. She gave me a very good englisch map of the temple and literature walking paths and marked the location of some further spots I wanted to visit. She explained how long it takes to walk different routes. With this help it was very easy to walk my own route. In addition, she recommended a bakery where I could use the restroom, because the small train station did not have one.

The women working there were extremely helpful. They had a good understanding of English. They had excellent knowledge of local services. I wish that all the information centers were as well run.

Probably the best service in Japan

We arrived in Onomichi with a "rough" plan about our intent to cycle the Shimanami Kaido between Onomichi and Imabari. The English speaking staff at the Tourist Information Centre, right outside JR Onomichi Station, made our plans happen. They sent us off to the the cycle hire centre with the information that the cycles when we wanted them were in short supply. No problem, their solution was hire the cycles now and use them for our 2 days in the town. Good advice!

They sent us off to the luggage forwarding staff over the road under the "Green Hotel", to arrange to have our large backpacks forwarded ahead of us (Yamamoto Transport, TA-Q-Bin Service). Staff there were witty and funny and helpful and the service worked perfectly. After 8 days our luggage and we were happily re-united on Shikoku.

The Information Centre suggested 2 accommodation stops along our cycle trip and both were perfectly good. The first at Ryokan Sazanami (Sedota Port) was the best meal to date in 5 weeks in Japan. The Ryokan was old, authentic, full of treasures. If you can stop here - it was such a surprise.

This leg of our journey was a great co-operative one made easy with the input of the Okonomichi Tourist Information staff. Thanks so much.

We spend a couple of days in Onomichi. We planned to take the Shimanami Kaido cycling route. The people at the Tourist Information were really helpful.
If you have any doubt or questions they will do them best to guide you.

Very useful because it is inside the station so you need not get information in advance.Just get off the train and look for walking maps. There are many options of walking in Onomichi, and temple walk is popular.Every JR station provides original stamp, and if you ask you canget a stamp with luxury sheet for free.

Oct 2015 • Family
I want to tell everyone how wonderful this quaint city of Onomichi is!
Go to the tourist information station, get a map of the temple walk and check out 25 temples on a charming, quiant walk around the city of Onomichi!

I had the best day here!
