Focus on gifts, not so much the museum
Jul 2018 • Couples
The museum was....quirky. A few things to view, but mostly a pretty home made tourist trap----and I love those. But if you were thinking of visiting a museum, you'd be disappointed.

That said, the shop is full of great little souvenirs. All the usual tourist stuff you might get in the airport, but also some interesting stuff. The turf craft items made out of peat are affordable and a really unique gift. Our proprietor was very kind and happy to chat about the local area with us.

If you're planning to bring things home, why not buy them from someone right there and support a small local merchant?

Lovely hand made items. Key rings, candles, ornaments and various other gifts for self or others. Friendly and helpful staff and prices reasonable.

Something different if your are a tourist
Dec 2015 • Business
The success of Island Turf Craft over the years means these pieces are no longer 'different' for locals. But people not from here find them unique and interesting. I've given many as gifts and they have always been appreciated.

Great little store

This is a souvenir store with a little display on the history and geography of turf cutting. It's terrific. We bought some unique local carvings, pottery, and jewelry at reasonable prices. The bog display isn't modern museum quality, but informative and interesting. No pressure to buy if you just want to walk in and see the displays, but the choice of merchandise for sale is good and reasonably priced.

At The Turf craft shop, they have a a Gallery for you to visit, taking in, the old industry of the Town!
Many great artefacts to browse through and wrap yourself in a bygone age!! The Gift Shop has many fabulous trinkets and souvenirs and Wedding gifts to choose from! The "very friendly staff" make your visit worth while! The Shop is on the site of an old Weaving Mill and parts of it is on display next door! This Town was a hot bed of industry a 100 years ago!! A must visit is "The island Turf Craft Centre"!!

Was told about this shop recently so decided to give it a try. I bought a beautiful wedding present from newbridge in it and prices are very reasonable. Its a lovely change to walk into a shop and not have anyone hovering over you. Staff are lovely.
