Surprisingly large fortress complex and worth the very reasonable entry fee. Definitely worth a visit if you are in Lefkada town or passing by.

We walked across the bridge and then across the floating bridge to get to the fortress. The fortress is a large area to walk around and you need to be sure footed and expect to walk through some areas of mown down dried thorny brambles....More

The ruins of the Castle of Agia Maura are quite interesting and its location is great. You may notice that the castle is surrounded by waters on all sides. Maybe some more interest shown by the local authorities would make it more attractive among tourists.

The wall of castle is still good, inaide you have lots of ruins but a small orthodox church is still very well preserved with a bell on top nd natural light. Few big canons and sea view.

This has easy access being close to Lefkada town and is very interesting. You drive right by it going to the island and is worth a stop if you like history. Large and well kept. Interesting place.

This castle is a bit outside the city, basically on the mainland. Visiting hours are until 3 pm (except Mondays, I think); entrance fee is 2 Euro. The walls of the castle are intact and you can partially walk up. The views over the lagoon...More
