Lake Tekapo is one of the most beautiful places on the entire South Island. The blue water with the white winter mountains makes this place a great tourist hot spot. In the summer you can swim in the lake and it makes a good spot to take some incredible photos.

Didn't want to leave. Such a beautiful, serene place. Definitely recommend visiting. Pretty cold when we went there, was forecasted to snow, so be sure to rug up in winter!

Great place to stay and awesome ski fields nearby however the price to do some of the tourist attractions are ridiculous!

We went for a walk around stunning scenery. If you go for a hike, make sure that you wear warm clothing even though the sun is shining. Definitely worth it.

Lake with wonderful color. Great to walk around, take picture, or dip your foot in cold water. Don't miss the night scape. Millions of stars will welcome you.

This was my first stop on a 7 day solo road trip. Such a beautiful lake and such an amazing colour! I had intended to camp in my car at a holiday park that overlooked the lake but a chest infection and the winter weather put a stop to that quick smart. Thankfully winter meant the hotels still had vacancies.... More

We took full advantage of our stay in Tekapo. Spa massage, sauna and hot springs in the afternoon, followed by a tour with Earth and Sky (not to be missed!) finishing by a dinner at Kohan. the view is beautiful though we preferred the colours of Lake Pukaki that you will pass on your way from Tekapo to Wanaka/Queenstown. There... More

Lake Tekapo was so scenic that I wish I could stay longer at there! The snow covered mountain at the other side formed a picture with the lake. The sun shines made the reflection of the mountains and the trees on the lake. The Lake was huge and calming. Pollution Free. Breathtaking!

A gorgeous lake made crystal blue by years of glaciated water running into the Lake. Overlooked by Mt. John and just a beautiful, quiet place to spend a day or two on your trip around the southern alps of New Zealand. The church is nice but beware of rude Chinese tourists.

Unbelievable scenery from our accomodation at Peppers Bluewater Resort looking out over Lake Tekapo to the mountains beyond. We travelled in winter so there was plenty of snow on the peaks as well (thoroughly recommend the resort). We stayed in a 1 bedroom studio apartment (fantastic). Just a short walk (albeit cold) to the village and eateries. Also did the... More
