Lake Tekapo has a small village and bounds of stunning scenery. You will be blown away by the colour of the lake. Beautiful! We spent 2 nights here and absolutely loved it. The night sky is worthwhile watching too and a good place to base...More

This is one of the most stunning sights my eyes have ever seen. The moment the image of the lake breaks over the highway it takes your breath away. That only becomes more prominent as you get closer to the lake and experience multiple vantage...More

Beautiful lake but nothing to do. Poor food outlets (only 10) and nowhere to even have a beer looking over the lake. Cut short our road trip and travelled back down south.

The area is lovely, the lakes colour with the mountains is truly outstanding. Tekapo is a small very very busy town, and is still being developed. We arrived at the Chineese. New year so the town was extreamly busy. It is geared for tourist with...More

As you drive into Tekapo the first thing you see from north is the beautiful blue lake with the Southern Alps in the distance. Simply Stunning.

Our journey to Lake Tekapo took us around a bend and then you are presented by the amazing turquoise blue that is the lake, (well as long as it is sunny). A truly beautiful sight. The colours change with the sunlight, time of day and...More

My wife and I spent a night at Lake Tekapo on the way from Christchurch to Queenstown, and we're very glad we did. The Lake itself is such a beautiful blue color, and walking around the bridge and church area was a lot of fun....More

There are lots of different accommodations available. It is a tiny town but has many easy hiking and walking trails. Surprisingly enough variety of restaurants. Recommendation: definitely worth a stop on your way from Christchurch to Queenstown.

This is a lovely lake and village. As with so many lakes in this area it is a beautiful turquoise colour. Had a swim in it, cool and refreshing though the area I choose was quite a lot of pebbles so walking in wasn’t easy!

It is winter time in NZ so it will be cold, wet and windy. The bonus is you will see the mountains covered in snow. It's hard to say what weather you get on the day. I was there late April and it was dry and sunny on the day... More
