In Huejotzingo, a town inside Estado de Puebla territory, there is an ancient francican convent dating back to 1526, nowadays it is an active museum. The architectural style and the fresco paintings in the walls of the central patio make the visit a pleasant one.

This "convento" is more beautiful than most of the places in the area, the garden is very interesting, and the dinning room is worth visiting. You can find sidras very near that place.

This is a jewel. It is undergoing re-construction because of earthquake damage, but we were able to get inside and marvel at the beautiful frescoes and architecture. We saw lots of beautiful churches in the Mexico City vicinity, but this was probably my favorite. It oozes history.

The build is interesting, with the distinctions of the era, it only lacks more descriptions of its history and of the area

Founded in 1529, this Franciscan Convent has a very sober facade that resembles a fortress. The Altarpiece is plateresque and decorated with sculptures and paintings by flemish painter Simon Pereyns. The Cloister has remnants of frescoes. The Atrium has small oratories with beautifully carved facades.

This is one of the oldest monasteries on the American continent and dates from around 1525. The tiered layers of the main alter are a magnificent way to display so many statues. Worth a look as part of the tourist trail
