It's a railway station, yes? Of course, but its filmic connection to Brief Encounter and its own inherent quaintness gives this little place a touch of magic you can almost hear and almost see. Wandering the gently curving platforms I fancied that I could hear...More

So glad we decided to make a visit here. It is so interesting for adults and children both. Loved the Brief Encounter references and the little gift shop.

not much to see in Carnforth, but this is really interesting, different sections based around the film and director, and also about the history of the railway and the town. I would have stayed longer but my wife wasn't that bothered for it so we...More

We really enjoyed our visit, though sadly we had too little time to see everything - and it was FREE! The café was very good as well

Fabulous coffee, end to a very interesting experience of days gone by. Great for fans of David Lean & his Brief Encounter.

Well worth a visit in an atmospheric setting to watch Brief Encounter. Extremely friendly and welcoming staff, knowledgeable and willing to help. Linked with train memorabilia, particularly LMS and other exhibitions on David Lean and local World War2 stuff. Well worth a hefty donation. Although...More

We visited the Heritage Centre as part of a weekend break. A real gem of a place to visit. You can park in the railway station for £4 the centre doesn’t charge but you can make a donation on your way out. Really good displays...More

Stopped here enroute home. Had a cuppa tea, strong hot and sweet. Looked at some gorgeous cakes, two minutes on the lips two years on the hips. Bought some great postcards 4 for £1.60 they summarise and encapsulated the film wonderfully.

Both are separate, but I'd check their website for details, and also agree with previous post about how the staff are really friendly and knowledgeable.

The visitor centre does not need that long. An hour to hour and a half would be all you need plus any time for the cafe.
