Start with the positives.....very clearly laid out one way system throughout the wetland areas. Plenty of sanitising stations to easily access. Cafe good as always. But.....there was quite a few of the walking areas closed off, not sure why, especially as the majority could be accessed whilst social distancing. My major annoyance....the website on the day of visit stated that the canoes and the pond dipping where open....only they weren’t. Signs throughout the reserve also stated canoes open April to October, I was told however they had been packed away for the winter (on the 17th with half term coming up..). Pond dipping also all closed up. I understand things are different at the moment, however when visitors take the time to check on the website what will be open on the chosen day of visit....and the information is not at all correct....it’s me, not your staff that have to explain to little ones who were expecting to canoe and pond-dip that we were given incorrect info on the website. Come on MM update your website so the info is correct please!…

I'm sorry that you were disappointed by elements of your trip. I checked with our website team at our HQ and the website had references to the canoes and pond dipping removed from it on the 29th September. I'm sorry if we missed an on-site sign as we thought we had taken them all down. We have had complaints in the past that things were on our website and it has turned out that they were third party websites that aren't kept up to date. It's always worth making sure to be on our WWT website.Once again, I'm really sorry your visit was spoiled by this.

They've made major changes to accommodate required social distancing etc, and gave made it an even more enjoyable place to visit. Well organised and great to visit, irrespective of age.

Visited for the first time - lots to see and very sensible Covid safe. I was wowed by the birds, but friendly serious twitchers told me I'd picked a quiet day. It must be stunning when the birds arrive in numbers. (Sound as though I was just unlucky.) It rained for the 4 hours I was there, but it barely distracted from the enjoyment. …

My 3 and1 year old absolutely loved it here. We were able to buy bird feed on arrival and when we began feeding a small number of ducks, I will never forget their faces when a huge ‘army’ of ducks came out from every corner and surrounded the pram! My daughter was absolutely delighted! It’s well worth a visit for any young duck lovers. Very good play area too. …
