Plaza Mayor is the Main Square of Ourense, the main city in the province, in Galicia Region, in the North of Spain. The main square is the heart of the old town, where all people go. Also, it is a very nice square, where you can see the town hall (Casa do Concello) or some other buildings. Close to the square, there is the Cathedral. A very nice place to walk, see people, eat or drink something in any bar or only enjoy the place. Curiosity: it is an uneven irregular square.

Its a realy beautiful place to have a rest and enjoy the beautiful ols buildings. The icecream there is delicious and the lady who owns it is very friendly. Also there is a small train which you can take from that place so you tour around the city.
But if you dont mind climbing than no problem
The coffee is also delicious in that same place. The ownners name is mariacarmen And her icecream is the best in galicia

Visited Ourense when travelling from Xares to Santiago de Compostela. Plaza not too busy for midday in August!

Great place to meet others or just sit and people watch with a glass of Vino Tinto!! Many places to walk and see from this point in Ourense. Very nice and clean

A buzzing place, full of nice little restaurants and bars. I sincerely hope the surrounding buildings will soon be restored.

Beautiful, unique, original and surrounded by beautiful buildings. Ourense's medieval square is charming and surrounded by sidewalk cafés. From here you can explore this beautiful medieval city. The unusual shape of the square makes it unique.

This is a small Plaza with a lot of places to take a drink sitting outside and enjoy the day. You can also get a mini bus in form of train.

Not the most exciting town square in Spain. Several touristy cafes, bars, and an ice cream store surround the plaza but it does have an outside hot spring thats only a 5 min walk from the plaza. You don't find that in to many plaza's elsewhere. Plus you can catch the thermal bath train that leaves every half hour from the plaza, it takes you to the many riverside thermal hot springs.

This is an attractive plaza, praza in the Galician language, in the heart of the old city. The surrounding buildings are lovely, with arcades that will protect you from the rain which is common. I am told this is the steepest Plaza Mayor in Spain.

Typical Spanish square, with cafes, restaurants and interesting buildings on all sides. The dominant building is the town hall (Casa Do Concello) but on another side there is one with Art Nouveau features, including some lovely ceramic tiles.
