I would highly recommend a visit. The caves were inhabited by neanderthal man and later prehistoric man. There are a number of interesting displays depicting life in the cave and some multimedia presentations, which are surprisingly effective. I went with my 6 year old son, who was fascinated. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Guides speak in Catalan, but devices are provided, facilitating commentaries in other languages including English and French. Not speaking Catalan in no way reduces the enjoyment of this attraction. I would also say that this attraction is excellent value for money. I can't remember exactly what I paid, but it was very reasonable indeed and my 6 year old was given free entry. The town has a delightful "old town" with a lovely church square. There is a very good tourist office and a couple of other museums, which sadly we had no time to visit. Between 2pm and 4pm, everything closes for siesta, which will come as a surprise if you are staying in a coastal resort town, where this does not apply.

These interesting caves are well worth visiting. The information is put together well. There is a guide and audio information in English. Well lit and accessible. The caves would be of interest to all ages.

We entered these caves with our two children (7 and 10) and were pleasantly surprised. The story of the neanderthal man is told using films projected on the cave walls. As you walk through the caves there are short films which explain the story of the neanderthal man and how he used to live in the caves. The children were fascinated and we enjoyed hearing it too. The only downside of it is that the tourguide does not speak one word of english (the story is told in english via a recording) so you cannot ask any questions.
