This is a beautiful castle built in the 15th and 16th centuries. It is a Gothic-mudejar style castle. I could not attend the guided visit, but the exterior is just amazing, surrounded by pine trees. The entrance is free to the first floor of the castle. Do not go on Sundays in the afternoons, it closes at 2.00 p.m. on Sundays.

This castle was "in the middle of no where". If your Spain travels take you past this location, DEFINITELY worth visiting. You could walk across the bridge and see how the moat would have worked, there were catapult "stones" and cannon balls to inspect, not the mention the little slots where they shot through. A fantastic step into history. They have a room that takes you through the history of it all and the chapel was also open. A few different artifacts (such as chests and candle holders), old to ancient, where on display throughout the interior as well.

Great castle with lots of historical significance. Easy walk from the town. Worth a visit when in Medina del Campo. You can walk around the grounds and inside the main part for free if you wish even on off hours. If you wish to see more of the rooms, there is a fee and open during certain hours.

My fault really as I left my passport safe at home but if you're British make sure you have ID with you to the visit the tower. I've never heard of such a ridiculous requirement. Never been asked for ID to visit better places like the Tower of London, Empire State Building, Warwick Castle or Eiffel Tower.

A massive castle with a moat a three other layers of defence. It opens at 11 and closes at 14:00 so timing your visit is important. Visitors have limited access, you can't walk on the ramparts as a result you get no view. One internal courtyard is open with access to a couple of rooms and church. Everything is in Spanish so it is difficult to get the history if you are an English speaker. It would have been fascinating to explore the higher levels and this limits the experience to very average and takes less than 30 minutes to have a good look

I’m sorry because the castle is much more impressive with a guided tour. There are guided tours but only for groups and there are audio guides (visit and explanation with the audio guide, available in Spanish, English and French , of the Iron Age archaeological site, the medieval city walls, the surrounding area of the castle, the court yard and the chapel).

It was a slight detour from Tordesillas where we were staying. A huge castle, still showing shell marks from the Civil War. Interesting to walk around for a half hour or an hour.

We visited the castle in October, and we loved it! There are parts that you can visit for free, but the guided visit isn't expensive and you learn so much! Thanks so much to Beatriz, our guide, she was great! Also, it's important to book the visit to the top of the tower beforehand because it can get crowded!! 100% recommend

We were a big group of people and the staff was always pushing us to go faster and to go to the next room although we didn't have a guide. We spent no more then 15 minutes inside because of this. The castle itself is very well preserved and beautiful.

Beautiful castle and looks great on Instagram but not much to report once you're inside. Upper rooms are closed off so you can't see all too much, and you can't go up in the tower for a view of the countryside (at least we couldn't). Still, a very impressive structure.

Thank you for your interest in visiting our Castle of Medina del Campo (Valladolid)
There are several ways to visit the castle:
The first one is the free tour without a guide or ticket. This kind of visit includes the inner ward, the courtyard, the chapel and Juan de la Cosa’s hall. The castle is open from 11:00 to 14:00 and the 16:00 from 18:00 (on Sundays the castle opens in the morning)
If you prefer to visit others areas of the castle is necessary to visit them with our guided tours. There are two kinds of guided tour:
-General Guided Tour (without the keep/ tower) that includes a visit the sites of the Iron Age, the XII century city walls, the exterior of the castle, shooting underground galleries, the dungeon, the courtyard and the chapel. The duration is one hour and the price is 4,00€ but the official language is Spanish. If you want a tourist guide who speaks English the price is 6,00€ but this way only is offered for group with more than 25 people.
These guided tour are at 11, 12 and 16 hours (from Tuesday to Saturday) and at 11 and 12 hours on Sunday. On Monday there isn't any guide tour.
-The guided tour of the keep includes the climb up the staircase, Great Hall, two rooms inside the keep and roof. The visit lasts 45 minutes more or less and it costs 4,00€. The official language is Spanish too.
This guided tour is at 13 and 17 hours (from Tuesday to Saturday. On Monday there isn't any guide tour. 5 people are needed if you want to join a guided tour but the problem is that the maximum is 15 people.
The visit in English costs 6,00€ if you visit only the keep.
Other option is join two guided tours: underground + tower. Duration: 2 hours. Price: 6€ (Spanish) or 8,00€ (English, but this way only is offered for group with more than 25 people).
If you prefer listening the information in English we have got audio guides in French, Spanish and English. The route of the audio guide includes the Iron Age archaeological site, the medieval city walls, the surrounding area of the castle, the court yard and the chapel but underground shooting corridors or the tower aren’t included. To rent the audio guide the ID or Passport are required. The visit lasts one hour and it costs 3,50€

Hola! Viajare a Espana desde San Juan, Puerto Rico. Uno de los lugares que visitaremos es Medina del Campo. Pregunta: Es mejor llegar a Madrid y trasladarnos en auto o es mejor volar a Valladolid y de alli transportarnos? Gracias. Yvonne
