This friendly tourist office on the main square Glavni Trg can set you up for various tours and experiences. Connected us with a super English-speaking guide to the tunnels, and directed us where to sign up for the ossuary access under the church via the neighboring museum. You need a guide for both attractions. Doing the best they can under Covid restrictions at the time of our visit. It would be nice if more visitors checked out this friendly and charming town between Ljubljana and Bled!

Well organised. All information about the town, the region and over all the country can be obtained. There you can also find authentic crafts and traditional foods. Many brochures you can take for free. The staffs are so friendly and warmly welcome the guests. When you come to Kranj, make sure you check this point so you won't miss a thing.

The guided tour of the tunnels is organized by the city tourist office and leaves from their office on the main square. The tunnels are man-made and were constructed at the start of World War 2, to provide shelter for civilians. The tour, which is fascinating, lasts about an hour and ends with a simulated air raid. A warm jacket is recommended as the tunnels are cold and damp.

The girl on the desk spoke excellent English, and pointed out all the places to visit on the free map, She introduced us to the guide for the tunnels and even gave us information about the football game taking place in the afternoon.

I was born in Kranj, so Kranj is my city.
I travel a lot, but i am so proud of Tourist information center in Kranj.
Good location in Center of old city, good opening time and really good staff.
Every tourist is satisfied, because he or she gets really good information.
Also they have a lot of paper material from Kranj, Gorenjska and other parts of our little nice country.
In one part of center is also very elegant shop with original slovene things.
I really recommend everyone to go to Info center Kranj

When you step inside of Kranj house you feel very welcomed. The staff is really nice and helpful and even more. They are all really dedicated to the guests and take time for them. They have really nice and useful souvenirs in shop. Art lovers can also view the gallery.

We realised that the real world had been left behind when we wended our way through the narrow historic streets of Kranj on its high promontory. Our expectations were not high as we passed through the commercial suburbs on the approach road lower down.
Our hotel the Actum Hotel was right in the centre and is delightfully quirky. The eccentricity of the much travelled manager Tatjana Whyte is the making of the hotel which has Rolls Royce memorabilia all around. Our dinner in the Sonet restaurant was exceptional with the best venison (roe deer) we have ever eaten. We would have travelled far for that experience but did not have to as the restaurant is in the same building as the hotel.
We liked the intimacy of this little town which despite its size was so full of interest and culture. There are interesting shops with anything from a great deli. selling some really good local wines and delicacies, to craft shops plus cafés and numerous galleries. It seems there is always some festival going on; we were there for the St. Nicolas festivities (the decorative lights on the streets were stunning). The crowds were very largely local families with children in their seventh heaven.
Kranj proved to be an ideal base – Ljubljana is half an hour’s drive away; we went by bus as parking had previously been expensive with few empty spaces. We loved walking in the surrounding countryside. All in all, Kranj proved to be a real life stage set with a happy storyline running right through the experience.
We covered a lot in a short time thanks to the friendly welcome we received at the Tourist Office. Rather than just giving us a fist full of pamphlets, we were asked where our interests lay and how much time was available. That approach made a lot of difference.

My complements to the tourist guide that took us into the tunnels (25th March, 2017). Not only was he good in presenting the tunnels, but also did a good job in presenting Kranj, its new archeological discoveries, pointing out different sights in the town - even though the group had mostly people from the area - telling a couple of legends connected with Plečnik and the church he rebuilt etc. It is the right amount of know-how that makes such a presentation memorable. And on the way he also knew how to give extra tips for future excursions.
