It is worth visiting Caminha if only for sitting in the main square. With lot's of cafe bars offering wonderful local pastries and usually delightful weather, even in the winter months, it is a fabulous place to sit and watch the world go by.
Situated on the northern border of Portugal it is just a short and lovely ferry ride from Camposancos in Spain.
There is a fabulous Saturday market which has a wide array of products including very distinctive local pottery.
If you are on your way to northern Spain from Portugal make the time for a quick stop over. It is well worth it.

This is the main square of Caminha, it's a very lively place with newsagents, cafe's & restaurants. It's good for people watching while having coffee, there is a fountain in the middle and a very good reason for people to visit a free Wi-Fi zone!

This little village has a sunny bright in the air. An old place with the smell of fresh fish and the feelling of the mountain. I really enjoy it.

The Clock Tower is located almost into the centre of Caminha, it is one of the central elements of the coat of arms of the municipality of Caminha. And is the only remnant of the three doors that were torn in the primitive fence of the village. And was the main access of the town. From the 17th century on it received the public clock of the village, and became to be known as Clock Tower. The tower has been classified as a National Monument since 1951.

Caminha is a small town located at the left bank of the Minho River’s mouth – across the river is Spain. The main square is very harmonious with ancient buildings and its Clock Tower; at the center a beautiful fountain surrounded by several café terraces – choose one and have a relaxing drink. Enjoy!

Ex-libbris of Caminha, located in the center of the village
The view from the top of the building is very beautiful. We have a global view of the village and the integration between the mouth of the river and the mountain on the Spanish side

The Torre do Relogio is an ancient, 13th-century clocktower found in one corner of Caminha's delightful town square. It is an impressive piece of masonry and, yes, the clock appears to still keep good time. The square boasts a fountain and a decent number of cafes. It proved a wonderful spot to sit, have a coffee, relax for a while and watch the world go by.

Hi all. We are going to be staying in Caminha soon in a self catering house. Are there are good local shops nearby or a Supermarket?
