The main entrance to the Cathedral is in Piazza Cavour, although the side entrance to Piazza Garibaldi is more impressive. Built from 1047 on the remains of an ancient medieval necropolis, it was consecrated in 1145 by Eugene III and preserves the Sacello dei Santi Giovenale e Cassio, frescoed with works of the ninth century including Jesus Blessing. Inside there are also baroque decorations.

The church contains a grave from the fourth century C.E., and another from the sixth century. A number of alterations have been made over the years resulting in an interesting mix

It is the main church of the town and is quite impressive from the outside. Unfortunately I was not able to visit the interior.

Beautiful church with no admission charge. We love seeing Old architecture and churches when traveling through Italy. This church had some interesting differences from other churches

This church is a bit of a mixture, some of it very old indeed, and other parts much later. Most interesting to me were the Cosmatesque floor in the right aisle and the Sacello of Saint Giovenale (local patron saint and early bishop). Some parts of this are very old indeed, and may have been classical Roman work re-used in the church. Also two intriguing early wooden sculptures, one of the Madonna weeping over the body of Christ

A fine church. Seems large for the community, but hardly a "cathedral"!
Not too ornamented. No information in English.
