Myself, my family and friends stopped at the Casale for a night's rest during our journey towards Siena.
We recommend calling in advance to ask about available places.
We also had dinner in the campsite's agricultural restaurant.
What can I say except: EXQUISITE.
All the dishes were mouth-watering and the fact that they were 0 km made them completely genuine: starting from the oil and vinegar, up to the dishes served.
You could sense the heart put into the preparation.
The house wine (red) is also very good.
Highly recommended!

This Monday, August 14, we had the chance to be welcomed by co-creator Ulisse (with his wife Sandra) for a unique sharing of experiences.
We spent 3 hours with Ulisse to understand his passion for cheese (among other things) and his field. By making the effort to speak to us in French (how thoughtful is that) Ulisse's words, the demonstration to make Pecorino in front of us, and his passion, transported us
Then we finished with lunch with a unique view of the Val d’Orcia.
Once again Ulisse took the time to come with us to continue sharing her passion with us.
A unique place, a moment out of time, an encounter that will remain. Thank you Ulisse

We were a group of ten who either did the cheese demonstration or the truffle hunt and we ALL loved what we did. Then we gathered as a group and had a wonderful lunch of organic foods produced there at the farm. The views from the terrace are exquisite and if the weather's good, that's where lunch is served. I can't recommend this outing enough. Just go! You won't be sorry. It was a wonderful experience.

Maybe we had very high expectations, but the visit helped us lose half a day. We booked a visit to their facilities and a cheese tasting at the end (Farm tour + Cheese Tasting), believing that they were going to show us in detail how they make their cheeses, where and how they grow their vegetables, how they take care of the animals they have in the farm. farm, etc… and none of that. The visit was limited to a very simple walk, they showed us four animals (that's a goat, that's a sheep, that's a pig, etc.), they showed us where they make the cheeses but not how they make them (there was a girl cleaning pots) and from a viewpoint they limited themselves to telling us a little about the history of the family that runs that farm. Nothing else. At the end of all this, we were taken to a table where we were served a plate with four pieces of cheese and a glass of wine. And from there to the store to see if we could buy cheeses and to pay for the visit, which by the way cost us €60 for 2 people. In short, a visit totally organized for the American tourist, who with all the love, but has no idea about cheese or wines; They charge them for the visit at an exorbitant price and take them to the store to make them spend more. For another time, better to invest those €60 directly buying cheese in a store in Pienza!

We all wanted to have a nice dinner. So we decided to try the always fully booked Podere il Casale. The place was magical the view was stunning. We had a very nice glass of vino outside even tho the smell of animals. When it came to go inside and have the actual dinner we had a very pretentious meal. Special mention to the tomino that was VERY TINY. The portions in general are vweeeery tiny and for the price the could add something more to it. And to conclude the day the portions were so tiny and everything by that time was closed that forced us to go straight to the closest mcdonalds…30 mins away

Very dissapointing. We paid so much for so litlte food. I was looking so forward to this experience after reading the reviews. I had to cook dinner as we all were starving when we came home. There was no meat on the pieces of chicken we all ordered.
A lot of talk about how great their farm is and that they make everything, but fell short after paying $200 euros for almost nothing. Save your money and go eat somewhere else. They should be ashamed of themselves.

We had an amazing afternoon and evening touring the farm and cooking with Sandra. She was engaging, entertaining and informative. We loved seeing the three generations of the family engaged in the farm and restaurant. Truly magical place and highlight of our Italy trip. The sunset and views are spectacular. Engaging all the sights, sounds, tastes and smells of the magical place is a memory for my sisters and nieces forever. Highly recommend and worth the drive from wherever you are staying in Tuscany!

We had the least enjoyable meal of our two week trip in Italy at this agriturismo. The view is beautiful and that’s about the extent of its merit. There is a reason it is filled with American tourists being driven around by hired drivers and no Italians eating. The head waiter shows such lack of interest in his job and makes guests feel like an inconvenience unless you are buying everything on the menu. The food is expensive for tiny portions and not even flavorful or fresh. The pasta was cold. The roast beef was just a few raw slices of cold cuts for 18 euro. Though a few of the ladies serving wine were cheerful, the rest of the experience was beyond dismal. The only reason this has good reviews is that it has a cooking school and most of the positive reviews are for that. Save yourself the time and disappointment and go to a more hospitable and authentic place for lunch.

We reserved for the truffle hunt and lunch. We got there early to enjoy the view over the countryside. The view is likely much better during dinner when the light is softer, certainly during the summer. The hunt was staged where we walked down a trail from the parking lot. More than once the gentleman had to tug on the dog's leash to direct him to the hidden truffle. Granted you probably wouldn't want to go on a real hunt which might involve a long drive and take most of the day, with cross country hiking.
You could see the whole farm in 15 minutes. It took a while to get the attention of the staff as they process a lot of customers through here, doing various classes. The lunch was ho hum, certainly for the price, even with truffles added to the dishes.

If you love food, if you appreciate farming, if you marvel at how the plant turns into pasta, the grape to wine, the goat/sheep to cheese, if you can handle a tough lesson in farm sustainability from a passionate family who has worked the land for 30 years, if you enjoy a view of the Italian countryside….this is the place for you. Of the 17 days I spent traveling throughout Italy in October, this was one of the top highlights. Attend the tour, eat the food, and above all, be OPEN to learning and watching and listening about how food is grown, nurtured, and loved. Foodies beware, you may never want to leave.

How do we find out what the activities (like cheese, wine tasting, and farm tour) are for each day and when you serve lunch and dinner?
Do we need reservations for a visit and meal?
Ciao,
