The mill was actually closed but they opened it for us and gave us a demo of the grinding process plus allowed us to make a purchase after hours. The people in this village are so helpful to travelers.

While we're driving through the village, unexpectedly, on a curve of the river below, crossing a narrow stone bridge this place appears and we all left the car in order to look at this beauty - both nature and human result.

Perhaps I didn't quite get the majesty of this attraction or I just didn't understand it but it just looked like a big stream to me. Definitely much better views and things to see in the mountains which are spectacular.

Several friends of mine stayed in a nearby home right outside Loro Ciuffenna. One day while walking around the town we discovered this beautiful mill. The pictures simply do not do it justice. The guidebook suggested spending ten minutes in Loro to walk down to the old mill. It didn't say what a beautiful place Loro is, perched on its Tolkein-esque gorge. We spent rather longer.
