Our daughter had her wedding here and it was wonderful. The location is so charming. Lavenea was magnificent. She was extremely accommodating. We were given a choice of several locations on the property for the ceremony and when at the last minute we decided to change the selected location no one missed a beat. The wedding dinner was excellent and a great value for the money. I would highly recommend them for special occasions.

A tour of the winery and olive presses, followed by a tasting session of 3 wines- all for €15. The backdrop and location of this winery is fantastic, our tour guide was knowledgeable and engaging with fluent English. Flagship wine fantastic we all bought a bottle to take home

we booked a cooking class and wine tasting at Tenuta di Capenzzana not knowing anything about the place other than the wines were very good. we were greated by a very up and energeic young lady named sharon. She was perfect a s a host for the enitre experience. Knowledgeable , funny and personable. We stared our day in teh commercial kitchen cooking with a delightful young man named Andre. He is a su chef in a local restaurant and told us of his adventures as a polo player in Argentina and a chef. We send several hours making our luncheon meal of pasta, which we made from scratch, to our meat course and vegetables and the Tiramisu. The wines paired wonderfully with the meal. WE then were given a tour of the vineyard and the wine cellars. we were there from 9:30 until 6:00 and wished we could have stayed longer. It was the best day of our tirp to Italy and one of the best days we have ever had in our many trips to Italy. It is a must do.

My boyfriend and I stayed here for two nights last week and we were hoping for a relaxing couple of days by the pool. Instead we received the following -
Staff.
We thought the standard of the staff was very poor. Upon our arrival we met a gentlemen on reception. It felt like he couldn’t show us to our room quickly enough and didn't care to explain anything about the restaurant, the local area, where the facilities were - anything actually. Once we dropped our bags we went back over to grab a snack at the wine bar where we were served by the same gentlemen. We asked about reserving a table at dinner tonight but was told unfortunately that it was closed due to an event. We then asked for some recommendations for dinner nearby. He said ‘all of the restaurants are good, google it and just go to the best review.’ Pretty disappointing considering he said he lived locally.
On this topic we asked him again later on, receiving an equally disinterested response. All of which I found frustrating considering they had decided to close their evening restaurant for an event which finished at 6pm. The alternative was at least a 15 minute drive away.
On the Monday, the hotel restaurant doesn’t open. We asked a member of staff where was the best place to go as from our internet research it seemed most of the local places were also closed on a Monday. He responded that it was best to drive in to Florence for dinner. I was astonished as that was over an hour away. Overall the restaurant was closed both nights we stayed something I find completely poor considering how remote the hotel is. We actually ended up finding a co-op 10 minutes before it shut and bought some bread, meat and cheeses... we even had to buy knives and there was nothing at the hotel!
Wine tour
We were meant to have a wine tour included within our stay. This was not offered and when asked we were told that this was not available. I find this pretty poor considering it was part of the offer that we booked and do not feel that we received the service we expected. Additionally we were told we would receive a free bottle of wine in our room. It was actually half a bottle - merely a glass each.
Pool area
One of the reasons for booking was so that we could have a relaxing couple of days in the Tuscan hills. Part of this expectation was to spend time relaxing around the pool. What we found was a dirty, messy and unsatisfactory pool area. It certainly did not make you want to spend anytime relaxing around it - not what you would expect from a luxury travel club. Photo attached!
Breakfast
During our time in Italy, the breakfast provided at the hotel was certainly the worst. It was very basis, a few croissants, yoghurt and cereals. Additionally as the milk steamer on the coffee machine was broken we couldn’t have a cappuccino or latte just an expresso or a simple white coffee. Again far from what we would expect.
Overall, we tried to spend as little time as possible at the hotel. The rooms were very nice, there is no fridge inside the room but we found a fridge down the corridor one evening (again not explained by the staff).

Dear Lauran,
it took some time to read your review... regarding the staff, I apologize if the guy you met at the wine bar was not very helpful, I understand that you were expecting a better recommendation ... anyway our B&B (it is not an hotel) is not at all in a remote place, we are only 2 km far from the closest village where you can find a COOP and everything else you may need, 9 km far from the town of Prato and only 24 km far from Florence where you can get easily in 40 - 45 minutes. Capezzana is beautifully located ... we are also not even 1 houf far from Lucca and from the seaside! The wine shop (same place of the wine bar) is open everyday until 7 pm and you can always get there what you need.. also knives if you ask!
Wine tour: as you said we had a big event on Suday when you arrived so this may be the reason why you couldn't have the tour on the same day, but I assume you had the tour the day after... we need to organize a little in advance the wine tours because we are always very busy in this season! and we offer a half bottle of our Barco Reale di Carmignano: this is a special gift to our guests , always very much appreciated.
Pool: the pool is very big , located in our park and sorrounded by trees, usually people are happy to not have too much sun (as it could be really hot in the summer) but unfortunately when you where here we had some storms and a lot of wind so even if we have a person to clean the pool 1 hour in the morning and 1 hour in the evening, leaves were falling down also in the pool.
Breakfast: we don't have only sweets but also salami and cheese, averything from local producers, and fruit and juices. The coffee machine was brocken in the 2 days that you were here and we couldn't make cappuccino but only coffee... I apologize about that.
hope you can come back to give us a chance to change your mind!

Visited as a group of 9 visiting the wine region. Had precoordinated the visit and was quite excited. The tour of the grounds and the winery was interesting and informative and had us really looking forward to tasting the wine. However when we were arrived at the tasting area our hostess completely lost interest in us. Three tastings total that consisted of nothing more than pouring wine and walking away. No back story of the wine, nothing. Had to retrieve our hostess twice to let her know we were ready for next tasting. The wines we tasted were average. This was the last of three visits to other wineries in the area (Fattoria Betti and Piaggia). Glad it was not the first visit as I had originally planned as it would have set a horrible tone for the rest of the day. Would not recommend nor revisit.

The Contini Bonacossi Family produce some of the most delightful wines in the Carmignano region and their estate is a true delight. Our tour of the cellars and a wonderful tasting with Daniela was one of the highlights of our 2 week tour of Tuscany. And we also must thank the most gracious Serena Contini Bonacossi, whose family was our hosts, for arranging a most exceptional luncheon at Il Falcone in Poggio a Caiano. Serena was most responsive from our first email requests for information to our tour etc. These folks really exemplify Tuscan Charm and Hospitality. Bravo Serene - Bravo Daniela - BRAVO TENUTA DI CAPEZZANA. See more about our tour of Toscana at http://nowat-toscana2011.blogspot.com/2011/10/92911-thursday-part-i.html

We did a classic wine tour here, really wasn’t worth it. We paid 20 euro per person, got a quick tour of the building and cellar, and tasted three wines afterwards. Wines were poured in the same glass, and we got little to no explanation with them, no water, bread, hospitality very low, we didn’t even get to taste the olive oil... we felt a little scammed honoustly, they were quick to collect our 40 euro and send us on our way. We’ve had so many great wine experiences in tuscany, I highly recommend you don’t waste your time and money on this one!

Good evening,
thank you for your feedback.
Usually the Classic Wine Tour includes a tour of cellar and the press mill, and a tasting of only 2 wines and it last around 1 hour. The olive is not included in this kind of tour and we run out of it at this time of the year.
I offered a glass of Trebbiano which is our most important white wine, and a tasting of our special Vinsanto because you asked me (usually it is 3,00€ per glass).
Of course I've explained all the wines and I made an exhaustive wine tour, but I would have been more than happy to asnwer to your questions.
My team and I will be very happy to have you back here!
Kind regards
Serena

While we did not stay or have a meal here, we greatly enjoyed the Classic Wine Tour. There is some very fascinating history to this old winery. As a red wine lover, I thought the wines we tasted were delicious. We had our kids with us (ages 9-17) and it was free to have them come along. They gave the kids some juice while we tasted the wines. We purchased some very reasonably priced bottles of wine at the end and even some of their olive oil which we got to try. For wine and history lovers, this was a great spot.

Brilliant day. Met for coffee and croissants. The off to meet out chef, Ginevra. She was excellent. Really fun and engaging.
We made 4 courses in all. It’s as hands on as you want. Somehow what we made tasted really good - must have been Ginevra’s instructions.
Great wine pairings from the sommelier as we had a meal with two family members who were relaxed and good company.
Then a tour of the estate. Awesome views of Tuscany. Basically a brilliant day.

We had a great day with the staff and Capezzana family. We started with a cooking class with Patrizio. We made pasta, gnocchi, zucchini blossoms, asparagus, roasted potatoes, Tuscan tomato soup and paired everything with fine wine. At lunch time, seven family members joined us and welcomed us warmly. This was a fabulous experience! The gardens and wine cellars were beautiful.
