We visited the Alb Thermal Baths during our short stay in Bad Urach. There are three pools available if you just purchase a ticket for the thermal baths. Additionally there is a sauna area, that can be entered for an extra fee. Oddly enough if you start at the indoor pool, which is 34°, the pool that goes to the outdoors from this pool is 32°, once outside you can go from the 32° pool to the 38° pool. Very relaxing and a perfect way to end a busy day. The shower and locker area was very clean. I would recommend taking a pair of flip flops along for walking around.

Fantastic spa although not really designed for keen swimmers. The changing rooms need spin driers for extracting the water from your costumes. Also there is a café above the main pool area which payment is taken from your wrist band chip. The only problem is that when you go to exit there is no instructions to say don't put your wrist band in the machine to exit before paying the bill. I did this and the person behind the desk became most upset as she had to try an retrieve my wrist band which had become mixed with 100 or so others and at the same time had people waiting to come in to the spa.

Well, it's a high quality thermal spa with fantastic outdoor hot pools. Great! I recommend to choose basic ticket without sauna extension. The reason is quite simple. According to German tradition saunas are mixed and people prefer to relax nude. This fact itself is not a problem, but most of these saunas visitors are men of the age 60+, what gives rise to the suspicions that most of them came to take a look at young beautiful ladies and may be to find some romantic adventure. If so you do, forget it, it's a wrong place for your hopes. :) All the rest is great. I recommend to visit it.

The place was dirty and packed, there was hair all over the floor, the location of the whirlpool next to the bathrooms was rather unlucky, and the whole place smelled like urine. A nightmare experience, I felt extremely uncomfortable there. A written complaint never got answered. Never, for the life of me, am I going back there.
