We’ve just been at the Overlord museum, where it said that the invasion of Denmark only took six hours before they (we) surrendered. That was a sting in the danish pride, so we were happy to see this memorial on our way to Utah Beach!...More

A memorial over the Danish seamen that participated in the Normandy invasion. As small in relative numbers it was, it should not be forgotten and those who participated deserves to be recognised and remembered. On the way to Utah beach so well worth a few...More

This was really nice to see, as i mostly remember the contributions of the Americans, Canadians, and British. However, the Danes also played a role in the Normandy campaign. It's glad that they are remembered too.

Took me by surprise. Learned much about this little known fact. Another reason Denmark is such an allies.

Tucked away at the side of the road on the way to utah beach sits this unheralded monument. We stopped to find out what it was about. Another example of the sacrifices that were given during operation overlord

Another memorial to D-Day, the episodes commemorated being more important than the quality of the memorial. Worth parking next to for 5 minutes or so.

Despite the fact that Denmark was occupied by the Germans, Danish seaman continued to serve with Allied ships and merchant ships. They are men who were out at sea when their country surrendered. There were over 800 who participated in the naval aspect of D-Day.

When visiting Utah Beach, you pass this small memorial which you should not just drive by. It's the only Danish memorial and a stopover ov five minutes will do. There is plenty of parking space.

A well made memorial near Utah beach, worth a photo break and to read the information provided. Parking available.
