We stopped by here to pay our respects whilst in the area but also to help with educating our 8 year old about the DDay landings and their importance in the Second World War. If you are looking to park close by then note that...More

I've just read some of the other reviews and there's nothing I can add. I walked a short way along the new promenade and my mind played tricks on me. Very moving.

Overlooking Sword beach, this is a quality monument to the liberation of France. There is also a statue of Lord Lovet, famous for marching from here to Pegasus bridge with his family piper, Bill Mullins, whilst under fire.

Nice to go if you have plenty of time but not that spectacular, especially if you come from visiting the 1944 landing beaches. I when there more as respect to the people who gave their lifes in June 44

Having just been around the Free French commando museum, coming across this memorial to D-day was poignant. The thought that, in June 1944, this beach that was full of people enjoying themselves was a bloody hell. Very simple, it reminded you of the courage of...More

The beaches here are beautiful and lovely. But it is good to remember that they have a history too. This monument is one of the places to do just that.
