This was an amazing experience. Not only was I pleasantly surprised to see the unique architecture, the overall surrounding was also so picturesque! I wish to go back when the apple orchard will be in full bloom.

Also the wait till sunset was worth all the time. It is simply a brilliant piece of art cultivated carefully with a serene backdrop.

I went for a 12,5 km hike starting at the center of Borgloon. The environment is magnificent! At the end of the walk you see this piece of art. The place was not to busy. We waited for about ten minutes and then we were there all alone, so it was great to take some beautiful pictures. The view over the landscape is also stunning!

I only found this church the 3rd time I was looking for it. Helped some other people via Google Maps who also couldn't find it. I was cycling and the last path to the church isn't made for that. The view is nice.

I had a fantastic summer day in the surroundings of Borgloon. We followed the 'knooppunten' and did a fantastic bike tour. The area is a real beauty. At the end of the day we visited the church. It's nice for a short stop and watch the views. The church is cute .....

We recently travelled to Belgium and did a thorough exploring of the countryside and all it had to offer. Perhaps one of the best and most unique things we have seen was the Reading Between the Lines Church in Borgloon.

In all of our travelling we have NEVER seen anything like this. Originally built as a progressive art project, it is now a permanent addition to the hillside outside Borgloon. The church itself is both there and not there at the same time. Constructed of multiple steel plates by Gijs Van Vaerenbergh it is an impressive and very interesting piece of architecture.

From certain points you see right through the church and from other areas it appears as a solid building.

The only downside of this church is that it is very difficult to find. However, once found you will likely be the only one there enjoying it in the quiet countryside surrounded by apple orchards. If you have a vehicle in Belgium definitely make this a stop as you will never see anything like this anywhere else.

The place is not easy to find and the signs are not really present. But you can park your car on the Sint-Truiden Steenweg and walk accross the peer fields. We went there on a rainy day and had the chance to be alone on the site. The place is one hour drive from Brussels and is not so big. So it's better to go there if you have something to do in the area. However, it's worth seeing as it is unique. Every angle gives a different vision of the church and do not forget your camera.

Very difficult to find this place. I was driving all over the orchard they need better signs posting where it is. So add Grootloonstraat 2 Borgloon, Belgium to your GPS. There is a house that is #2 but you need to drive down the road before and to the right of the house. Drive down cobblestone road it will turn into a split cement road for 3 km. You will come to a slight fork in the road take that right and drive 1 km. You will come up to a box on the right with a sign that has a small image of the church. Look to your right and it is in the field and there are some picnic tables right after the sign to park. Enjoy

Went there in July and it was extremely hot. It's in the middle of nowhere - surrounded with corp fields. It's a bit hard to reach in that heat. Looks nice, but I expected to be way bigger. Despite that it was a bit rusty.

A beautiful setting and such a unique piece of art. There is a small parking lot on the main road for the walking paths in the area and you take a small path between two fields and an orchard that goes back to the church. We looked online for info for finding the church and had no problem locating it. The town that the church is just outside of (Borgloon) is quite small but definitely worth a visit after your walk - you can grab lunch or a beer!
