Three of us tool a guided tour of the La Fortuna Waterfall preserve. Guiding us were Otto and Carlos from Desafio Adventure Company. They picked us up at our hotel and that is when the fun began. They were not only knowledgeable but also hilarious! Talk about people enjoying their job! We had a wonderful time exploring the preserve, and ended up having a nice lunch at what appeared to be a Desafio facility. We had a terrific time with Otto and Carlos, and if the rest of their staff are anything like these two you will be in for a good time!

I would like to mention that I have traveled to many places and have used many travel groups, but frankly speaking, have never came across something this great. Your adventure company is awesome and we really had a very good time. You guys surely know how to maintain a good customer relationship. The hotels and transportation were extremely well managed and we appreciate all the good care and package that were provided to us.
We loved Costa Rica and promise to come back again soon and book through you guys. The adventures we opted for were all very fun.

My friend and I used Desafio to book our entire trip in Costa Rica. We cannot say enough good things - for an extremely reasonable price, they arranged all of our adventure tours, hotels, and transportation between places. We went to Arenal, Monteverde & Samara, and did all of the 'must do' activities in each destination - rafting, hiking the Arenal volcano, rappelling, zip-lining/canopy tour, Cloud forest tour and night walk, snorkeling, horseback riding, and more. All of the guides were friendly and informative, and the tours/activities were seamless and fun! All of the hotels and transportation they booked for us were really comfortable and clean. We had no complaints and definitely would use them again!

Booked the Monteverde Cloud Forest guided tour. There was a mixup and the pickup never arrived. Desafio immediately called another taxi though, at which point it was an hour late. The annoying part is there’s no emergency number to call, so when the pickup didn’t come no one was able to help immediately. Good thing the guide Rodrigo had a direct line to someone in their team, who was able to send another taxi driver to pick me up. They were very apologetic about it & promised to investigate. Meanwhile guide Rodrigo is extremely knowledgeable. It is a shame that I was late + paired with a family that only spoke Spanish (I don’t) and therefore most info on the tour was in Spanish. Normally they do either all English or all Spanish tours, somehow there was a miscommunication.

My boyfriend and I were looking for a last minute trip (one week out) when his sister recommded Desafio to us. I emailed them Monday morning and promptly heard back from Darlene. Once I told her a little more about what we were looking for she had sent us a complete 8-day itinerary within a few hours! We had a few tweaks (my boyfriend was too heavy to ride the tiny Costa Rican horses) and she happily accommodated. My Tuesday we had everything booked and couldn't wait to get there! The booking process was so easy, they were so responsive and it really felt like we were already getting the vacation treatment.
When we arrived in Costa Rica we had a private driver with a very clear sign and there was even wifi on board our car! Every driver we had was so friendly and helpful. We loved all of our hotels (especially the Rustic Lodge in Monteverde) and loved every aspect of our trip. We did Monteverde, Arenal and Manuel Antonio and felt like we had the perfect mix of adventure and relaxation. When I emailed Darlene asking for a specific view for our next hotel she wrote back minutes later saying she had just spoken to them and it was all taken care of!
We did a couple of Desafio run tours as well and found them to be incredibly efficient, safe and friendly. The Mambo Combo in Arenal was our favorite (canyoneering and white water rafting). Our group became great friends with each other and our guide.
If you want to feel completely safe, taken care of, and at ease knowing you will see all the best parts of Costa Rica I highly, highly recommend Desafio. We are dying to come back already!

The girls at the Desafio Monteverde Tours office helped my put together a package for family. There are so many things to do in Monteverde it was great to get some local info about what was right for my family. They organised everything from tours to hotels. Not just in Monteverde but in Arenal and Samara Beach as well. Everything was done in a friendly, efficient way which meant I could spend my time just enjoying myself not worrying about travel details. I was impressed by the speed they got back to me with my millions and millions of questions!

Angelica at Monteverde Tours arranged an unforgettable two week tour of Costa Rica. She was extremely helpful with her suggestions, and taking on board our frequent 'readjustments' of the schedule. All the activities were excellent, the hotels were perfect, and the transfers happened smoothly. I can highly recommend this company

The staff at Desafio and Monteverde Adventure Company tirelessly accommodated our changeable minds and schedules. Thank you Fabiola for always answering our requests (and emergency rescheduling when our flight was cancelled) with a smile.They set up a fantastic week-long itinerary for us, and the treatment we received from guides and drivers was well beyond our expectations. My 83 year old father and I wanted a low key right day trip to Costa Rica with an emphasis on the natural beauty and the culture of Costa Rica. MonteVerde Adventures delivered exactly what we need. They made sure everything went smoothly and they placed us at locations with people who truly care about their guests.
We were pleased to see one of the agents join us for a tour. She asked our opinions and seemed genuinely interested in how we enjoyed the visit to a local farm. When a complication occurred, Monteverde Adventures identified the problem and you care of it.
I would highly recommend Monteverde Adventures for independent travel in central Costa Rica. I would also like to personally aisle Darlene who arranged a everything for us,

Can't say enough about this company. Just got back from our 7 day Manuel Antonio/Fortuna trip and wouldn't change a thing. They booked everything for us-hotels, adventures and drivers. Everything was very organized, and drivers were always on time. When I initially booked, they had no problem making some small adjustments to our schedule. They returned emails very quickly. Everyone we encountered was very professional, courteous and friendly. All of our adventures were top notch. Highly recommend!

We are taking a 4 day adventure trip with Monteverde Tours to the cloud forest and arenal. I have a question about leaving personal belongings on the bus during the activities (ziplining, rafting, canyonerring). Does someone stay with the bus or should we always leave everything at the hotel?

That is a great question!
A driver generally stays with your things on the van while you are enjoying your activity.
However, on the Canyoning Trip you will change vehicles and can leave items in the lockers at our private Canyon House.
Please be sure not to bring valuables like passport, etc. It’s best to leave them back in your hotel safe.

Taking private transportation from San Jose Airport to La Fortuna hotel. We are allowed a one hour stop. Where would be a good place to stop for lunch and to purchase grocery items.
